TEACH THEM HOW TO SET GOALS
All parents share that sense of frustration when their child doesn't try hard enough to accomplish something they know he's perfectly capable of. What can you do? One way to foster a can-do attitude is to help your child learn to set goals and meet them, one small step at a time.
Don't get too excited: You probably won't be able to get your child to start aiming for straight A's right away. That kind of goal would be a major challenge for most preteens. But experts say this is an ideal time to introduce your child to the concept of establishing targets and working toward them. Try these strategies to teach your child the power of goal-setting so he'll eventually learn how to work to achieve his best.
Get the idea across
Start small
Let them choose
Be alert to possibilities
Show them how
Provide a reality check
Applaud effort
Get the Idea Across
Start the process by looking for ways that your child already uses goal-setting techniques. If you notice that your son has managed to save up his money to buy a video game, for example, discuss the steps he needed to take to get what he wanted. Talk to him about how good it feels to accomplish something that you've worked toward. Then, discuss how these same techniques can be used to meet other challenges.
We'll continue from here next week.

Home Accidents.
As Mrs Davis rushed down the stairs towards the balcony, she sighted her two year old baby floating in the swimming pool which was adjacent to where she stood. He was already drowned. Her heart sank.
"what will I tell his father? " she cried, biting the tip of her fingers.
*****
Just as Mrs Davis, many parents have loose their children to or have become victims of home Accidents. This has either affected the wellbeing of the family slightly or adversely.
In some cases, most people attribute it the influence of family altars, witchcraft or vice versa.
One thing to note is: accidents are not created but caused. Research has it that for every 90% of home Accidents which occurs in our homes, people living there are the causative agents and not the outsiders.
I once came across a lady who sat down to watch her little girl play with needle. When I asked: why don't you take the needle away from her. All she could answer was: leave her alone. She's just trying to get smart!
Par adventure the child, either by a mistake or correction uses the needle to hurt herself, then the needle is blamed.
Shut up! Did you report to the devil when you refused to get the needle away from her, calling her smart?
The whole thing calls for paying close watch and attention towards children. Draw your children's attention to whatever you see and you're sure can hurt them.
Parents be alert and watchful.

What do you call your child?
Most parents are fun of calling their children abusive names. They easily feel offended whenever their children go wrong and thus abuse them.
Abusing children is not the ultimate. There is no excuse for Abusing your child.
Children are precious and ought to called outstanding names, no matter the situation.
Whenever you abuse your children, do you ever ask yourself of what next?
Do you ask yourself of its influence on them? We all need to put all these into consideration.
Stop using abusive words on your children. Instead whenever a child go astray, it's more advisable to spare the rod and after pull the child back to yourself.
Remember,
"Children are seeds not kids. You sow today and reap tomorrow ".

Do You Have One? πππππ
If I should ask a question; Do You Have A Mentor. Nine out of every ten persons will affirm to it. Some might even begin to give their names. Well, that's great, but the whole thing doesn't end there.
Most people see only their parents as their mentors, others go for rich and influential personnel' such as football and music stars, politicians,......
One thing to note is: A mentor is not necessary someone who is wealthy, rich or lives luxuriously. He may not actually be huge, plump, fat, old or be your parents. His or her past may not really be good, may have a rough present, but has quality morals and virtue.
A very simple definition to a mentor is: someone whose positive actions and reactions exceeds the negative. Someone whose moral principles and experience are tested and commendable to a standard. Someone whose quality exceeds the quantity. That's someone who could be mentored.
It is not certain that a person must have only one mentor or must be from the same family or related. One can have more than one mentor whether they live with, close, afar or not even related. As long as the person adds a certain value to your life, he or she can be mentored. A mentor can be your teacher, brother, pastor, Father, etc.
Don't say you're too independent and do not need one. It's a lie. You need a mentor to make you more independent.
Every great man today had a mentor. I have a mentor. Do you have one?

M DOWN β

β
As a child, the word "calm down" has been a unique language in my life. My Mother seldom make or began any conversation without either beginning with or ending with the phrase- calm down. This kept cutting across our Mother and Son conversation and at some point, I felt like going crazy.
I felt being hated and humiliated until when I missed an opportunity of featuring in an international speech summit. I then realized that mother was right. I had to calm down.
Same applies to people who feel on top of the world in whatever they do. They feel better than others and no one else is the best. Hmm. Dear, you have to calm down.
Are you a first class student or you just won the best student award and you feel like making pompous show off? You need to calm down.
You are a talented instrumentalist and you feel you can manipulate the keys? Or you are pastor with much anointing and you feel you should be worshipped? You need to calm down.
Calm down applies to all. It doesn't select or exclude anyone, no matter your age, status, gender, size, position, political class or affiliations.
Calm down because even the people you see as mentors have their own mentors. Calm down!!

How Do You Approach Them? π
In recent times, it's quite fortunate that more businesses are springing up. One can get whatever he needs from either a store, office or through an online platform. That's ecstasy.
However, it's also alarming that many people make complaints of lack of customers. Some people complain of loosing them to others. Some talk of people using charms or diabolic means to get customers from them.
Hmm. Before jumping to conclusions, one pertinent question you should ask yourself is: How Do I Approach Them.
A customer walking into your business premises, studies the way you welcome, interact and the service you render. They want to know if your place Worth's their presence.
Most people welcome their customers with frowning faces, as if they were engaged in a battle. Some cast stares on them as if they were mislead without a welcome. Others get quickly offended with their customers speech and thus, exchanges abusive word with them.
Activities like these does not encourage customers. Customers aren't spirit, but humans and as such, deserves to be treated fairly. Always try to welcome a customer with a smile. Use pleasant words such as welcome Sir/Madam, It's good to see you, how may I be of help to you......?
Such words help your Customers to have some sense of belonging or better to say, feel at home. They also help to give your customer a good impression about you, promotes your business and maintains your customer.
