PARENTS LAUD SOFUNIX 2017 WASSCE RESULTS

Outstanding performance of the graduating students of SOFUNIX International College in the 2017 West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) has elicited commendation and advice from the parents.

By the results, the students performed excellently in all their subjects in what is regarded as a consistent progression since the College commenced graduating students at WASSCE and National Examination Council (NECO).

Commenting on the exemplary performance in the recently released WASSCE results, an executive member of the College's Parents-Teachers' Association (PTA), Mr Rafiu Bello described it as highly expected in view of the conducive learning environment , competent staff that were recruited through rigorous processes and high academic standard of the College.

Mr Bello explained that the College placed premium on recruitment of qualified teachers in line with its vision, mission, and core values which are geared towards development of well-rounded students with solid background for leadership position.

He noted that the school had always recorded outstanding performance since it commenced presentation of candidates for WASSCE and NECO.

Corroborating Bello, another parent, Mrs Olufunke Ogunaike noted that she did not regret sending her children to the College in view of the way the Institution had always exposed its students to principle of hard work and regular liaising with the parents for collaborative efforts aimed at overall development of the students.

She urged the school's management to continue to uphold the principle of hard work and high academic standard in order to sustain the culture of excellent results which have become its hallmark.

Addressing the students during the recent graduation ceremony, the Editor, BUSINESSDAY, Mr Anthony Osae-Brown who was the guest speaker also commended the school's management on the high performance at 2017 WASSCE. Osae-Brown advised the management to keep the staff and students abreast of the continuous development in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to enhance teaching and learning processes.

According to him, anyone who fails to embrace ICT would find it difficult to move to the next level as Communication models are fast changing and we must be ready to embrace the changes.

The Proprietor, Mr Sola Oni who expressed delight over the WASSCE results explained that the primary objective for establishing SOFUNIX International Schools which comprises SOFUNIX Nursery and Primary School and SOFUNIX International College was to develop future manpower through strong academic and moral foundation.

Oni stated that the schools' curriculum was a combination of Nigerian and British Curriculum . He noted that pupils and students would always be exposed to affective, cognitive and psychomotor domains of education for enhanced quality education that places the child at the center of learning.

He warned the graduating students to be self-discipline at tertiary institution. He explained that unlike primary and secondary school, there would always a form of freedom in the tertiary institution as students at that level are less monitored.

According to him, the assumption is that students in tertiary institutions are more matured to face their studies independently. Oni explained that many students abuse this freedom with dire consequences on their performance. He urged the students to be good ambassadors of the College as they are the leaders of tomorrow saying skill and integrity should be their watchword.

Prizes were awarded for outstanding students , pupils, staff and parents during the graduation ceremony while the schools' solicitor, Barrister Oluwalogbon Ogunseye and former students inducted the College graduating students into SOFUNIX Alumni Association.

Activities such as news casting, playlet. choreography, and drama among others featured prominently at the graduation ceremony.

No fewer than 100 students had passed out of SOFUNIX International College since its inception . A good number of them had graduated in flying colours from tertiary institutions while those who are currently there are doing well in their studies.
