We thank God for the success of 2019/2010 academic session 's YORUBA CULTURAL DAY.
celebrating Yoruba's rich cultural heritage is not only necessary, but of utmost priority. This is what informed the celebration of YORUBA Cultural Day in the school, where everybody was dressed in gorgeous indigenous cultural attires. Various songs were rendered in Yoruba.
The culture is gradually fading away, though not dying and that is why “we are encouraging everybody to dress traditionally. We admonish Schools and churches to also encourage cultural day celebration and teach the children the importance of culture from the cradle.
WE WANT TO ALSO USE THIS MEDIUM TO STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT OUR CHILDREN ARE ALLOWED TO SPEAK OUR LOCAL LANGUAGE (E.G YORUBA, IGBO, HAUSA etc) AT HOME AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK. IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT MORE THAN 90% OF OUR PUPILS CANNOT EVEN EXCHANGE PLEASANTRIES IN OUR NATIVE LANGUAGE.
We must ensure that our culture is transmitted to our children, otherwise, it will be lost and by implication, we would have lost our identity. Every young Nigerian is expected to understand his or her local language in addition to English as a second language.
The event was a remarkable success. It is believed that it would have a great positive effect on our little wonders. Thanks to our dear parents for making it a success. WE SHALL NOT WEEP OVER OUR CHILDREN IN JESUS NAME AMEN.
