How I Discovered My Skill As A Copywriter

The word copywriting had been in obscurity to me for a long time, but I kept seeing it being listed as a high-income skill. Then I had an encounter with a captivating sales page. And Thieves Invaded Our Home!🥺

It was a cool evening, many parents were returning from work. It was our usual fellowship day and once our parents arrived, we got prepared for the evening fellowship.

We journey to the church premises where the word of God was shared. Everyone got blessed. After the fellowship, we hopped back into the vehicle and returned home. Few minutes before we got home, the vehicle broke down. We had to go on foot all the way home.

Dad was left alone to sort the faulty vehicle. On getting home, some of my siblings got busy with various activities, one was asleep in the living room while I was with mum was inside praying.

Mmm mmmmm, all of a sudden, a knock was heard. The louvred door slided open. The usual chant of 'Welcome dad' was not said. I became suspicious where I was, only for us to see one of my sibling come in through the back door of the room whispering thieves!, thieves!

You could trust our fire brand parents then, my mum started praying in tongues. Not too long, one of the thieves came into the room demanding for money. My mum showed him catalogues of 'Christian Women Mirror' and told him that's all she had.

He threatened and fumed, but left shamelessly. Being a first time experience, we were frightened. Dad came later on and it all became a story.

From that day forward, I held on to five key lessons to avoid such mess next time.

💎 Awareness and Vigilance. If something feels off, you need to take precautions. Trust your instinct likewise.

💎 Security measures. We were not prepared for it. If we were, they could probably have been arrested. Self-defense training, alarms, or apps that can quickly alert authorities or loved ones in case of an emergency are examples of security measures that can be put in place.

💎 Emergency Response Planning. Such plan may include knowing escape routes.

💎 Cooperation during an incident. Did I forget to tell you that I was defiant to the instruction 'lie down' that I was given. I was boiling inside, thinking of how to drag his gun from him and pull him down. This could escalate the situation. Cooperate with the assailants and avoid sudden movements.

In my hustle experience, I started dropshipping for a product. I notified friends and colleagues of my new business and urged them to patronize me. I had the gift of persuading customers to buy but my target audience was limited. To tackle this problem, I went back to the drawing board to strategize marketing plans for my product.

I navigated the ever-changing landscape of consumer preferences, and leveraged a multichannel approach. I utilized social media, content marketing, and influencer partnerships to create a buzz around the product. I focused on building trust and understanding the client's needs before presenting the product.

I experimented with rewarding customers for referrals and repeat purchases. This not only boosted sales but also fostered a sense of community around the product. My growth knew no bounds.

To be successful like me, in sales and marketing, you need to focus on Branding, Positioning, Social Proof, Your message, Reputation

I learnt how to craft compelling stories that resonates with my audience and how to create a sense of exclusivity and urgency that can drive customer engagement and prompt quicker decision-making.

For a business to evolve, adaptability is key. Your business has to stay abreast of industry trends, consumer behavior shifts, and be willing to adjust your strategies accordingly.

To cap it up, persistence and resilience will keep you moving forward even in the face of setbacks.
