🚨 BEFORE YOU CALL THAT CHILD LAZY BECAUSE OF THEIR HANDWRITING… STOP. ✋🏽
Bad handwriting is not always laziness.
Sometimes, the child is actually trying but something is making writing difficult.
🤔 Could it be weak pencil control?
🤔 Could the child be struggling to form letters correctly?
🤔 Are they rushing because writing feels tiring or frustrating?
🤔 Have they had enough guided practice?
🤔 Are they finding it difficult to coordinate their eyes, hands, and movements?
A child who writes poorly may not need another “Write it again!”
They may need someone to say:
❤️ “Let’s find out what is making writing difficult for you, and I will help you.”
There is a BIG difference between correcting a child and understanding a child.
Instead of filling pages with punishment writing, try to identify the specific problem.
✏️ Practise pencil control.
✏️ Practise simple strokes and patterns.
✏️ Teach correct letter formation.
✏️ Work on spacing.
✏️ Give short, regular practice.
✏️ Praise improvement not only perfection.
Please don't give a child a permanent label because of a skill they are still learning. 🌱
The handwriting you see today is not necessarily the handwriting they will have forever.
