University of Abuja SUG Senate Commences Ratification of Standing Committees
The Students’ Senate has begun the ratification of its Standing Committees. At Yesterday’s plenary, Friday 28th November, 2025, some members of the Entrepreneurship Committee and the Academics Committee were screened and confirmed. More committees will be ratified in subsequent sittings.

The SUG Senate, University of Abuja, joyfully celebrates Senator Shehu Sani , a distinguished Nigerian politician, prolific writer, fearless activist, and true nation-builder.

From his youthful days as an outspoken member of the Pan-African Students Organization, Senator Sani’s voice has always echoed the spirit of courage and justice. Following the annulment of the historic June 12, 1993 elections, his firm stance against tyranny earned him multiple detentions, a testament to his unwavering commitment to democracy and good governance.

On Wednesday, 8th October, 2025, the SUG Senate President, University of Abuja, Senator Chukwuebuka Godsfavour , led a delegation of principal officers on a courtesy visit to Senator Shehu Sani at his Abuja office. In his characteristic warmth and humility, the Senator shared invaluable words of wisdom, urging the young leaders to engage actively in governance and decision-making, the sure path to becoming the leaders of tomorrow. He also pledged his unwavering support to their vision of student leadership and national development.

Today, we join millions of Nigerians to celebrate this icon of conscience, voice of the people, and beacon of hope.

Students Senate, SUG University of Abuja Confirms EMMANUEL TAYO OGUNJIDE, ESQ.

On Thursday, September 18th, 2025, the Students’ Senate approved the nomination of Emmanuel Tayo Ogunjide, Esq. as the Legal Adviser of the Students’ Union Government, University of Abuja.

The Executive Council, had earlier forwarded the appointment for Senate approval, entrusts the Legal Adviser with the responsibility of providing sound legal guidance and counsel to the Union, in line with the provisions of the Constitution.

Mr. Emmanuel Tayo Ogunjide, Esq., Principal Partner of Dignus Chambers, is a seasoned legal practitioner of high repute. Following comprehensive background checks and confirmations, the Senate affirms that Mr. Ogunjide possesses the competence, integrity, and professional expertise required to guide the Union in all legal matters.

The tenure of office for the Legal Adviser shall be two (2) Union Administrative Years.

The plenary session, presided over by the Senate President, Senator Okolie C. God’sfavour, duly confirmed the appointment in accordance with the provisions of the Union’s Constitution and legislative procedures.

We commend all applicants for their participation and congratulate the newly qualified candidates on their appointment to serve in the judicial arm of the Union.
