UNIVERSITY OF ABUJA TO PARTNER WITH EMBASSY OF MEXICO
University of Abuja sets to partner with the Mexican Embassy and other Latin-America countries to establish Spanish cultural centre in Nigeria. This was stated during the visit of Model United Nations of the University of Abuja to the Embassy of Mexico earlier this week.
Ambassador Alejandro Garcia Moreno of the Mexican Embassy in Abuja stressed the readiness of his country to strengthen ties with Nigeria on areas of mutual benefits. He continued that his embassy will open the discussion with those of other Latin Americans and Caribbean on the need to establish a Spanish cultural centre in Nigeria.
The Secretary General of the MUN of the University of Abuja, M.I. Abdulbakai pointed out the suitability of the University of Abuja to host the centre partly being located at the city capital of Nigeria. He continued that, now that Nigerians will be speaking and accustomed to the Spanish Language and culture, this will boost trades, cultural and diplomatic relationship between Nigeria and Mexico.
Furthermore, The Embassy’s Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Rodrigo A. Tenorio while responding his host’s growing concern over the need for Nigeria to be on the Permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council, stated that both the Mexico and Nigeria are on the same page on that issue. But unfortunate, there is no end in sight on the ongoing discussion on the very need to restructure the long due Security Council.
Climate change, human rights and gender issues were among the issues discussed on a round table diplomatic meeting that lasted for hours.
