Married Women adopt husband's name as a status symbol.
People often confuse marital status with paternity. Some even declare haram what Allah swt institutionalise, thereby deviating from the wisdom of the Qur'an and hadith. Some quote hadith out of context. I will like anyone holding that position to answer these 3 questions:
1. When a woman is addressed as Mrs Zainab Yusuf, or (Zainab iimraat Yusuf, as expressed in arabic), does that mean she is claiming Yusuf as her father?
2. In the Qur'an, Allah addressed 5 married women by their husband's name with no mention of even their own name, let alone who their father was. Are you declaring Allah's statement as haram?
3. Kindly show me any reference of a married woman in the Qur'an Allah addressed by her father's name.
Hadith were collected and compiled by scholars with their language semantics. Do not use Arabic semantics to mark the English language.
Brothers and sisters in Islam, arguing over frivolities like this is a diversionary tactic of the enemy of Islam. We have a more serious matter of tawheed and unity of Muslims to contend with. Our brothers and sisters in Palestine are dying and we are here attempting to correct Allah's book? Auzubillah.
Fatherhood and marital status nomenclature are distinctively different and should not be confused by any matured Muslim.
Women adopt husband's name as a status symbol (having attained half of faith), not in the position of father. Even a goat should not lock horns over this.
Marriage is an honour in Islam. Hence, Allah honoured women with it by addressing them by it. All the wives of the Prophet (Saw) automatically became mother of the believers by the virtue of marriage, not by birth or by knowledge or by worship.
Claim of fatherhood is what Allah has made haram. Hence, Allah abolished the adopted son taking the guardian's name. Allah concludes that if you do not know their father's name, they are your brother in faith. The hadith usually referenced on this matter were explaining these positions of the Qur'an.
No one has the right to declare haram or halal except Allah and His Rasulullah (saw). Ask scholars the reason and wisdom behind every hadith before you build a decision or rulings on it.
People should stop using chatgpt to pass fatwas.
May Allah forgive us all and guide our progeny from the confusion of their time. Ameen See less
