Congratulations once again

Good morning, esteemed followers.

The information shared yesterday about the resumption date is from an inner source within the walls of ASUU's leadership.

I've seen lots of people saying ASUU didn't hold any meeting yesterday, but that's false. ASUU held a 'critical' meeting yesterday within the leadership organigram and a pre-decision has been made.
It is after this pre-decision that ASUU will now meet with NEC to relate to the public, their resolution.

This is how every official body operates. You don't expect bodies not to meet with their leadership before relating to the public.

Yes, sources from within the leadership have made us understand that they have decided to suspend the strike with conditions attached, following the court order.

Furthermore, ASUU has scheduled a meeting with the NEC members on Tuesday, when and where the decision made yesterday within its leadership would be made known to firstly, its members, then the public.

Well, all the brouhaha is none of our business in CONUA. All that we care for is for both FG and ASUU to come to terms and reopen schools so that we can do our jobs!
The future of our students matters so much to us and we can't continue to toy with it. We want them back in classes.

We are ready to return to classes!

Kindly disregard every connotation that insinuates that we are fighting against ASUU. That's not true! Just like ASUU and every other academic conglomerate, we are an independent body and our philosophy is straight— the future of Nigerian students matters first!

Many have been made to dislike our activities but in due time, they will come back to say 'thank you!' to us.

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria 🇳🇬
God bless all Nigerian students! 💯💪🇳🇬
God bless CONUA 💯💞🥂

Signed:
Management.

Withdraw CONUA, NAMDA’s licences, NLC writes Ngige

The NLC said their registration could not stand because it contravened the laws, which had been tested and affirmed by the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, the Appeal Court and the Supreme Court.

The President, NLC, Ayuba Wabba, made the request in a protest letter to the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, titled, ‘Organised labour rejects the purported registration of new trade unions for academics in Nigerian universities’.

The letter with reference number NLC/NS/E.16/654 and dated October 5, 2022, was obtained by Sunday PUNCH in Abuja.

Strike: Appeal court orders ASUU to resume work immediately

A Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has ordered members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to call off their eight-months-old strike and return to the classrooms strike immediately.

The appellate court gave the order in a ruling on an application by the striking lecturers seeking permission for it to appeal against the order of the National Industrial Court which asked the striking lecturers to resume duty.

The 3-man panel led by Justice Hamman Barka, stated that calling off the strike is the only condition that the union’s request to appeal the ruling of the National Industrial Court which ordered the union to call off its strike will be given effect.

The court asked ASUU to file it’s notice of appeal within 7 days and must show evidence that it’s members have resumed work immediately.

: Some of the lecturers under the auspices of ASUU are gradually joining us in CONUA as at the time of filling this report.

We are happy to receive them all, under the leadership of our National Coordinator, Dr. Niyi Sunmonu.

The interest and best for the Nigerian students and our Nigerian University system is our goal and our priority.

We enjoined all students to stay calm as we are working tirelessly with the FG to ensure they go back to classes in a short while.

We Warned ASUU, But They Were Busy Playing Obedient Politics – Lauretta Speaks On CONUA’s Registration

Lauretta Onochie, a personal assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari, has reacted as Federal government offers certificate of registration to Congress Of Universities Academics (CONUA). She also slammed the Academic Union of Universities over its insistence on strike.

She wrote, partly saying “That's what Nigerians asked for so our young people can return to continue with their education.

“We warned ASUU, but they were busy playing obedient politics. This will be the last strike by university lecturers in Nigeria. They will no longer be able to hold the destiny of our young people to ransom.

“Congratulations to Congress Of Universities Academics (CONUA).” she added.

We are currently discussing with lecturers under our union to finalize and find a common ground on how our universities can function with or without lecturers in other unions.

Note: This is not a negotiation with the government We are not on strike.
