ACCI BEST Centre Explores Strategic Partnership with FOCI Skills Academy on TVET, Skills Development, and Standardization

On 25th of May, the ACCI BEST Centre held a strategic meeting with the FOCI Skills Academy to strengthen existing collaboration and explore new opportunities in the areas of skills development, vocational standardization, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), and joint donor engagement initiatives.

The meeting commenced with a review of previous collaborations, including FOCI’s role as a training partner in the delivery of the Technical Facilities Operations and Maintenance (TFOM) DVT training in earlier cohorts. Lessons learned from the partnership were discussed, and both parties reaffirmed their commitment to improving the delivery of future cohorts.

Other areas of cooperation discussed were focused on enhancing the quality of vocational training, strengthening certification credibility, and improving graduate employability. Both institutions expressed their readiness to provide technical support and guidance based on their respective experiences in skills development and accreditation processes.

The meeting also highlighted plans to formalize the partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). In addition, both organizations agreed to strengthen collaboration through the exchange of organizational and promotional materials to enhance joint visibility and outreach.

The engagement concluded with a shared commitment to building a sustainable partnership that will expand vocational training opportunities, promote institutional growth, and support workforce development initiatives.

The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry Business Entrepreneurship Skills and Technology (BEST) Centre recently hosted a strategic collaboration meeting with the Financial Institutions Training Centre (FITC) on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at the BEST Centre Executive Conference Room.

The meeting focused on exploring partnership opportunities aimed at strengthening capacity building, professional certification, and institutional growth. Both organizations emphasized the importance of shifting from competition to collaboration in order to build a more resilient and future-ready Nigerian workforce.

During the session, the ACCI BEST Centre team highlighted the role of the Chamber within the national business ecosystem and its commitment to human capital development through its specialized centres.

FITC, on the other hand, showcased its extensive expertise in delivering high-level training programs across various sectors, including sustainability, compliance, risk management, artificial intelligence, and executive development, alongside its advisory services.

Key areas of collaboration discussed include:
* Capacity building for SMEs
* Technical training synergy across industries
* Utilization of ACCI facilities for training and examinations
* Hosting large-scale Computer-Based Test (CBT) assessments

The meeting concluded with a strong commitment from both parties to further explore the collaboration and work towards establishing a formal partnership framework through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

This engagement marks a significant step towards fostering impactful partnerships that will enhance skills development and support economic growth.

The ACCI BEST Centre was honoured to receive Prof. Wole Soyinka during his visit to the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry on the 1st of May, 2026.

The Nobel Laureate was received by the President of ACCI, Chief Emeka Obegolu SAN, alongside the First Deputy President of ACCI, Prof. Adesoji Adesugba and the Director of the BEST Centre, Dr. Tinuke Temitope, in the presence of other distinguished guests.

As part of the visit, Professor Soyinka toured Business Entrepreneurship Skills and Technology (BEST) Centre, where he was introduced to the Centre’s ongoing initiatives focused on skills development, entrepreneurship, and economic empowerment.

The Noble Laureate commended the effort of the BEST Centre which have trained over 5000 individuals in different skills and it's contribution to economic development.
The visit also coincided with a landmark moment as he laid the foundation stone for the National Secretariat of the National Association of Seadogs within the ACCI Business Park— a significant step towards institutional growth and legacy building.
