Lets teach Split Strategy for Multiplication.

12x5=?
Split 12 into 10 and 2 and multiply each by 5. Then add the outcomes together.

10x5=50
2x5=10
50+10=60

Therefore, 12x5=60.

2^4 means 2 raised to the POWER of 4.

2^4=16 not 8.

2^4=2x2x2x2=16

Not 8 (2x4) as many students think.

Hint: indices.
