For teachers in Africa, the tide has finally changed, drastically, in their favour!

The era of close proximity between poverty and teaching has ended!

Now, teaching will become as rewarding, fulfilling, gratifying, and respectable as any other profession!

On Friday, September 20th, registration of teachers into the Africa Virtual Teaching Service (AVTS) will commence through the platform, and we are aiming to onboard an additional 500 new teachers to the system.

OUR IMMEDIATE OBJECTIVE:

By the time schools have fully resumed across Nigeria for the 2024/25 academic session and are ready for proper academic processes, we should have at least a pool of 1,000 teachers from all over the world who can be:

1. Contracted immediately by schools to teach remotely (from wherever they are based) by appearing on large screens in their classrooms to hold live, interactive lesson sessions with their students.

2. Hired by parents for remote home tutoring services by appearing on their TVs, laptops, tablets, and phones to help their children with their studies.

OUR SHORT-TERM GOAL:

By the end of 2025, we should have fully integrated our proprietary AI systems into the core framework so that:

1. Quality assurance would be fully automated, ensuring that every teacher in the Africa Virtual Teaching Service is either absolutely qualified and competent to teach, or they are put through a solid capacity-building, on-demand, self-paced, simplified, and effective training system.

2. Teachers will have access to high-tech tools that will make it possible for them to research, compile, and prepare teaching resources that will be turned into intuitive learning resources for students at an unprecedented scale with impacts that will transcend what is humanly possible.

On this auspicious first day of the 2024/25 academic session, we are excited to make the first in a series of announcements we have lined up for the next few weeks.

The School Development, Growth & Sustenance System.

SDGSS.

In 2004, we started the idea of creating "Online Portals" for schools instead of ordinary websites.

in 2014, we pushed the concept of deploying School Management & Learning Systems as against ordinary school websites and even mere online portals.

Today, we are setting a new pace.

Let it be on record that we are the first to create a School Development, Growth & Sustenance System (SDGSS).

A system that brings to schools a wide range of smart new possibilities to help them stay afloat in this new age of tech, and during this trying time.

Some of the new possibilities that the SDGSS will bring to schools include:

1. Hiring teachers from any part of the world (on a part-time basis) to deliver lessons remotely. This will result in a substantial cut in overhead as remunerations for remote part-time teachers will be relatively low! With our usual top-notch approach of ingenuity, we have simplified this possibility so much that schools will not have to purchase new gadgets. Existing TVs and phones in the school will get the job done!

2. Accepting unlimited numbers of virtual students who for any reason might have chosen to study from home. A lot of parents are now embracing homeschooling and other options, but with SDGSS, schools can admit and retain such learners who in their multitudes will be glad to pay fractions of normal school fees just to be enrolled in a school where they can access lessons remotely, participate in all school activities remotely, write tests and exams, and get all certificates eventually.

I’m excited about the huge possibilities that EdNet is creating for teachers in Africa!

First, let me mention the fact that contrary to the widely accepted misconception that teaching is a low-paying job, the future future actually belongs to teachers!

With the exciting new possibilities that EdNet is bringing into the teaching profession, teachers across Africa will soon begin to experience the same level of success and prestige that any other profession offers.

That is, teachers that are ready to redefine their careers, develop themselves, unlearn, relearn, build new competences and adopt technology!

In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, when there was an urgent need for creating emergency alternatives to conventional schooling, we had inducted about 500 teachers into the iSchoolCLOUD Virtual School, but unfortunately, over 90% of those teachers couldn’t carry out any meaningful virtual teaching activity, either due to lack of appropriate devices; or because they were not tech-savvy enough!

However, 4 years later, that number is no longer the case.

Post-COVID, teachers - and the world as a whole - have come to realize the inevitability of adopting technology in order to become more productive in their day-to-day activities.

An average teacher is now computer-literate, in possession of at least, a smart phone or computer and willing to use technology in the classroom!

Next, is to start using technologies to break their careers out of the confines of brick-and-mortar classroom walls and beyond borders!
