Always told your kids to compete and outdo other children at school?
Here are some reasons why Collaboration is necessary and more effective than competition
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ Humans accomplish much of what they do in collaboration with others.
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
Children's earliest abilities to collaborate develop in two basic steps. First, 1- and 2-year-olds learn to form with others joint goals and joint attention--which include an understanding of the individual roles and perspectives involved
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ Second, as they approach their third birthdays, children's collaborative interactions with others take on a more normative dimension involving obligations to the partner
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ In addition, their cognitive abilities to conceptualize simultaneously both their own role and perspective along with those of the other develop considerably as well. This form of collaborative interaction is underlain by species-unique skills and motivations for shared intentionality that make possible, ultimately, such things as complex cultural institutions

This funny video shows a deep truth about kids.
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
They are easily molded and copy all you do not what you say
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
Teach your children by taking positive actions towards what you preach and they will copy your lifestyle

Finishing off a relaxing summer to gear up for the arrival of the next class of students can be stressful for many teachers. To avoid feeling overwhelmed, craft your game plan for success with our 50 back-to-school tips
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
Establish a Clean Slate
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
✔️If you haven’t already, let go of last year. Whether it was a good or bad year, it’s not this year
✔️Change up your classroom layout from last school year. Keeping things fresh helps to motivate you
✔️Organize desks, tables, and cabinets in a way that is conducive to learning.️Think about what worked or didn’t work in the past.
✔️Invest in a new planner, tote bag, note cards, and other items that will help you start the year with a fresh perspective.
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
Set The Tone
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
Give your space personality as well as structure. Decorate your classroom in a way that reflects your personality and teaching style. You will feel most comfortable when you are in your element
✔️Give parents and students a good first impression by approaching the year with a well thought out and organized plan
✔️Prepare an outline of the first few weeks for parents. Post it on a blog, print it out for the open house, or send it in an email
✔️Decorate your door and a bulletin board (or two) within your classroom. Friendly and fun décor that is still focused on learning is key
✔️Put together the first month of lesson plans with lots of interactivity that will get all your students involved. Let them work together and get to know one another
✔️Learn the names of all of your students by the end of week one. This is a simple and important way to earn their respect
✔️Over-plan your lessons. You don’t want your students to be left with 15 minutes of nothing to do
✔️Select great books to read during those first days that will grab your students’ attention and get them excited about starting a new school year
✔️Build class spirit. Give your classroom a name and create a team environment within your classroom

School resuming and the little ones are still waking up late and disrupting your sleep? Here are tips to help get a better sleep
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
✔️Set an individualized bedtime
🔹
School-age children need between 9 and 11 hours of sleep each night, but there’s a lot of variability in sleep needs and patterns. Most kids have patterns that don’t change much, no matter what you do. An early riser will still get up early even if you put them to bed later, and a night owl won’t usually fall asleep until their body is ready. Know how much sleep your child needs to wake up refreshed and set an appropriate bedtime
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
✔️Set a wake-up time
🔹
If you know how much sleep your child needs and what time they go to bed, it’s simple math to set a daily wake-up time. Allowing your child to sleep a little later on weekends and holidays is generous, but it can set you up for a long, sleepless night. Those extra hours of sleep will affect your child like jet-lag, making it hard for their body to feel tired at bedtime. Keep bedtime and wake-up time the same, within and hour or so, every day
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
✔️Create a consistent bedtime routine
🔹
Routines are especially important for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. Doing specific things before bed, such as a bath or story time, signal to your child what’s coming next. Knowing what comes next is comforting and relaxing, setting the perfect bedtime atmosphere. Before long, your child’s body may automatically start to become sleepy at the beginning of their routine
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
✔️Turn off the TV at least two hours before bedtime
🔹
Research has shown that the light from a television screen, phone, or computer monitor can interfere with the production of the hormone melatonin. Melatonin is an important piece of sleep-wake cycles. When melatonin levels are at their highest, most people are sleepy and ready for bed. Just a half an hour of TV or other screen time before bed can disrupt that enough to keep your child up an extra two hours. Make the bedroom a screen-free zone or at least make sure all screens are completely dark from bedtime on. Phones are better left out of the bedroom at night

Here are five tips for parents to help make that first week back at school a good week for their children
🔹
✔️Create a family ritual for the return to school. Remember the end of the school year? Those many different ways in which the school year was marked and recorded with an end of year play. You can also create a family ritual, this can be anything from getting ice cream the night before school starts to creating an album for each child capturing their summer fun to a healthy dinner as a family the night before school starts
🔹
✔️Recognize the learning your child did this summer. If we are going to partner as parents with our schools in supporting the important skills of critical thinking; creativity; questioning; exploring the world around us – Spend some time the week before school starts recognizing in your child how much she/he has grown over the summer
🔹
✔️Be intentional about how to ask about school the first days back. The family after school routine is back and with it is the need to catch up with our children on what they did for the hours they were apart from us. Nothing is more telling to children about the importance parents place on their education, then the times and places where they area asked questions and engaged in conversations
🔹
✔️Start the new school year with a positive outlook. You might not have heard great things about your son’s teacher for third grade. You might wonder and worry about the class size. While these are all valid concerns, there is already plenty of angst with the start of a new school year for your children. Think about what you are saying in front of them at home or when talking to other parents in the supermarket or at the playground
🔹
✔️Stay focused on supporting the relationships your children are building. We are seeing more and more literature which tells us that relationship building is key for academic success. When talking with your children about their school day keep the questions away from judging what your children recall or remember academically and focus on the names of their friends and their impressions of their teachers
