Learning a skill is one thing. Understanding where that skill can take you is another.

At Whitecloud TVET Solutions Limited, we believe practical training should go beyond the classroom.

Recently, the Fashion Department had an opportunity to engage with a fashion professional who shared insights into the industry, what it takes to build a career in fashion, and the possibilities that exist beyond simply learning how to sew.

For the trainees, it was also an opportunity to demonstrate what they had learnt, ask questions, receive corrections and better understand the standards expected in the real world.

One of the trainees is still at the beginning of her journey. She is learning the fundamentals, building confidence and gradually finding her feet. And that is exactly what learning looks like making mistakes, receiving guidance, improving and trying again.

What stood out to me was the value of bringing industry experience into the training environment.

Because when learners get the opportunity to learn from people who understand the realities of the industry, they begin to see their skills differently not just as something to learn, but as something they can eventually build a career and business around.

This is the kind of exposure that makes skills development meaningful.

WHITECLOUD MOVES TO STRENGTHEN FASHION TRAINING WITH NEW EQUIPMENT

Whitecloud TVET Solutions Limited is exploring new opportunities to strengthen practical training and expand the creative potential of its Fashion Department.

As part of ongoing efforts to improve the learning experience of trainees, the Chairman of Whitecloud TVET Solutions Limited, Netufo Jasper Oluranti, alongside members of the Fashion Department, recently visited a facility to inspect and learn more about an LCD machine with potential applications for the training and production activities of the department.

During the visit, the instructor provided a practical demonstration of the machine, explaining its functions, applications and how it could support the trainees in developing their technical and creative skills.

The demonstration gave the team an opportunity to better understand how the equipment could be integrated into the department’s training activities and contribute to more advanced production processes.

Speaking to the trainees, the Chairman highlighted the organisation’s vision of developing the Fashion Department beyond conventional training.

He explained that the long-term objective is to build a Whitecloud Fashion Hub where skills development, creativity and production can come together, creating an environment where trainees can not only learn but also apply their skills in real-world settings.

The proposed Fashion Hub is expected to provide opportunities for trainees to develop their expertise, gain practical production experience and explore the commercial potential of their skills.

The initiative reflects Whitecloud’s broader commitment to ensuring that its trainees are equipped with relevant skills, modern tools and practical experiences that can prepare them for employment, entrepreneurship and the evolving demands of the fashion industry.

At Whitecloud, the vision is clear: training should not end with learning a skill; it should open the door to creating, producing and building sustainable opportunities.

Have you ever wondered what one month of practical fashion training can do?

At Whitecloud TVET Solutions Limited, our trainees start from the basics.

They learn how to take measurements, create patterns, understand fabrics and make accurate cuts all under the guidance of an instructor.

But learning doesn't stop in the classroom.

They practise what they've been taught, ask questions, take notes, work with patterns and gradually become more confident with the sewing machine.

And then comes the exciting part watching them put everything together.

From learning the basics to actually creating with their own hands, the progress is clear to see.

This is what one month of learning, practice and dedication can look like at Whitecloud.
