My heart aches whenever I see parents unintentionally limiting their children’s potential by neglecting to provide textbooks — especially in the foundational classes.
Many of these same parents faithfully pay bills, provide good meals, dress their children in expensive clothes, and pack costly snacks and drinks in fancy lunch boxes… yet the child comes to school without books.
Whether we admit it or not, this is one subtle way generational illiteracy continues.
A child without learning tools is a child forced to learn with limitations.
Dear parents, I appeal on behalf of your children:
Please prioritize textbooks. Redirect a fraction of the money spent on sugary treats toward essential learning materials.
Knowledge will feed them far longer than snacks ever can.
May you truly reap the fruits of your labour.
