Happy 70th Birthday and Happy Retirement, Prof. Ahmed H. Amfani.
It is difficult to put into words how much you have contributed to Linguistics, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, and the academic community at large. I count myself fortunate to have been one of your students. You taught me Phonology and Syntax with exceptional clarity, and your teachings laid a solid foundation for my understanding of Government and Binding Theory and the Minimalist Program.
Beyond the classroom, you were always generous with your knowledge. During my PhD, you patiently explained several complex syntactic concepts and graciously shared valuable materials that greatly enriched my literature review. Those acts of kindness and mentorship will always remain with me.
As you retire after 45 years of distinguished service, your legacy will continue to live through the countless students, researchers and academics whose lives you have touched. May Almighty Allah reward your dedication to scholarship, bless you with good health, peace and long life, and grant you a fulfilling and joyful retirement.
