🚨 FCSC 2026 PROMOTION EXAMINATION UPDATE
The Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) has shared an update on the ongoing 2026 Directorate Cadre Promotion Examination being conducted across designated centres nationwide.
FCSC Chairman, Prof. Tunji Olaopa, inspected examination centres in Abuja and expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise.
📌 Here are the key points:
• About 5,900 candidates were expected to participate.
• 5,792 candidates had successfully taken the examination so far.
• The examination was decentralised across the geopolitical zones to make participation easier for eligible officers.
• About 97% of candidates arrived on time.
• The Commission reported only minor operational issues.
• Some centres experienced initial internet connectivity challenges, but alternative identification arrangements were provided.
• Provisions were also made to accommodate candidates with visual and physical challenges.
• The CBT platform was designed to be simple and user-friendly, requiring only basic computer navigation skills.
💻 Why CBT?
According to the Commission, the move to Computer-Based Testing is part of efforts to modernise the promotion examination process and improve standardisation, transparency and efficiency.
The FCSC Chairman also stressed the importance of merit, competence and demonstrable performance in career progression within the Federal Civil Service.
📊 The Chairman said the Commission's assessment of the 2025 exercise was about 68%, while the 2026 exercise was estimated at not less than 90%, with further improvements still expected.
