The 2026 NIMSAPS Weekend, which took place on Saturday, 2nd May 2026, at the National Missionary Seminary of St. Paul, Gwagwalada, was a profound moment of reflection and intellectual engagement.

Centred on the theme “The Struggle for Authentic Human Existence amid Dehumanising Forces,” we were challenged to see philosophy not as a mere academic requirement, but as an essential part of our formation, one that shapes us to think clearly, discern wisely, and live truthfully.

Fr. Jonah, the guest speaker, reminded us that in a society marked by insecurity, moral confusion, and hardship, the seminarian must rise as both a thinker and a witness, a thinker who questions, analyses, and seeks truth, and a witness whose life reflects integrity, compassion, and courage.

The weekend highlighted that priestly formation is holistic, human, spiritual, intellectual, and pastoral, aimed at forming not just scholars, but men capable of engaging the world’s challenges with wisdom and hope.

Ultimately, we were called to move beyond words…
to become living signs of truth in a world searching for meaning.
