‎The Kautal Pulaaku Fulbe Association of Nigeria has made a strong appeal to the Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang , urging him to ensure that all security directives and enforcement measures in the state are applied with strict fairness, justice, and equal treatment for all communities without any form of bias or discrimination.

‎The association’s call comes in reaction to recent statements by the Governor ordering security agencies to take decisive action against individuals found destroying farmlands. While acknowledging the importance of protecting agricultural livelihoods and ensuring food security, the group stressed that justice and consistency must remain central in the enforcement of any security policy.

‎According to the association, if such stringent measures are to be implemented against those who destroy farmlands, then equal and comparable action must also be taken against all other forms of criminal activity that continue to threaten peace and stability in the state. These, they noted, include cattle rustling, the poisoning of livestock, unlawful road blockages, attacks on innocent citizens, destruction of military checkpoints, and other acts of violence that undermine public safety and order.

‎The group further raised serious concern over the persistent loss of lives and property affecting its members, stating that many herders are often attacked and killed while carrying out their daily activities of rearing animals. It also noted that cattle rustling remains a major challenge, with many livestock being stolen, killed, or forcefully taken away, describing the situation as a deeply troubling and recurring security crisis.

According to the association, these incidents frequently occur while members are on transit or in the course of their legitimate livelihood activities, making the issue a matter of urgent humanitarian and security concern.
‎The association emphasized that these challenges require immediate and decisive attention from the Plateau State Government and security agencies, warning that continued inaction could worsen tensions and deepen mistrust among affected communities.

‎It further stated that, according to the association, the directive appears to focus mainly on farmers and those involved in farmland-related disputes, while raising concern over what they described as a lack of equal emphasis on addressing the equally serious challenges faced by herders. The association questioned what measures are being taken regarding the protection of herders, especially in cases involving attacks, cattle rustling, and loss of lives, stressing that justice must be applied evenly to all sides for lasting peace to be achieved.

‎The association also expressed concern over what it described as rising incidents of hate speech, tribal incitement, and divisive rhetoric within communities, warning that such behaviour significantly contributes to tension and mistrust among different groups in the state. It called for equal accountability for anyone found engaging in such acts, regardless of background or affiliation.

‎Reiterating its position, the Kautal Pulaaku Fulbe Association emphasized that sustainable peace can only be achieved when the principles of fairness and equal justice are upheld for all citizens. It warned that selective enforcement of laws could deepen grievances and further escalate existing tensions if not carefully managed.

‎The association also appealed to traditional rulers, community leaders, religious figures, and youth groups to play active roles in promoting peace and discouraging inflammatory statements or actions capable of worsening divisions among the people.

‎It concluded by reaffirming its commitment to peaceful coexistence and called on all stakeholders in Plateau State to work collectively with government and security agencies in addressing insecurity, restoring trust, and strengthening unity across all communities in the state and Nigeria at large.

Barikin Ladi Residents Call for Return of Brig. Gen. Murtala D. Abdulsalam to Plateau Community

Residents of Barikin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State have appealed to the state government and relevant security authorities to redeploy Brigadier General Murtala D. Abdulsalam back to the area, following his removal as Sector 4 Commander of the military formation in the locality.

The people described Brig. Gen. Abdulsalam as a dedicated and professional military officer known for carrying out his duties with honesty, fairness, and integrity, without discrimination based on ethnicity, religion, or political affiliation.

Community members noted that during his tenure in Barikin Ladi, significant progress was recorded in peacebuilding, security coordination, and the promotion of peaceful coexistence among different communities in the area.

According to residents, his leadership style and close relationship with the people contributed greatly to strengthening trust between security operatives and members of the public, thereby enhancing efforts aimed at maintaining peace and stability in the region.

The people of Barikin Ladi expressed dissatisfaction over his redeployment and urged the Plateau State Government and military authorities to reconsider the decision by bringing him back to continue his peace and security efforts in the local government area and the state at large.

A high-level meeting focused on youth empowerment, workforce development and humanitarian interventions was held today as Wilson Manji, alongside the President of the Digital Bridge Institute, Daser David, paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard M. Doro, at his office.

According to Wilson Manji, discussions also focused on sustainable solutions capable of improving the livelihoods of Plateau residents through impactful humanitarian and development-driven programmes.

The engagement further explored possible areas of collaboration between stakeholders and the Ministry in advancing programmes targeted at poverty reduction, innovation, skills acquisition and community development.

Wilson Manji expressed optimism over future partnerships with the Ministry, noting that such collaborations would contribute significantly to the ongoing development agenda in Plateau State.
