Leçon 23. How to say brother and sister in French. 🇫🇷
Le frère — the brother
La sœur — the sister
Le for masculine. La for feminine. Same rule as always.
Le père. Le frère. La mère. La sœur. Once you know the rule it applies everywhere.

Papa — daddy
Maman — mummy
Informal and affectionate. Used with family and people close to you.
And they look almost exactly like the English words. One of the easiest French lessons you will ever have.

The pronunciation is exactly the same. Only the spelling changes. One e added at the end for women.

Leçon 17. How to say you are hungry or thirsty in French. 🇫🇷
J'ai faim — I am hungry
J'ai soif — I am thirsty
Something interesting about these two expressions. In English you say I am hungry. In French you say j'ai faim. Literally I have hunger. In English you say I am thirsty. In French you say j'ai soif. Literally I have thirst.
So in French hunger and thirst are things you HAVE. Not things you ARE.
That small difference is worth remembering. It will stop you from making the mistake of saying je suis faim. Which is wrong. It is always j'ai faim.

Pour dire ce qu'on aime:
J'aime le français — I like French
J'aime la musique — I like music
J'aime beaucoup la danse — I really like dancing

Pour dire ce qu'on n'aime pas:
Je n'aime pas les examens — I do not like exams
Je n'aime pas me lever tôt — I do not like waking up early

Dites-moi: qu'est-ce que vous aimez? Et qu'est-ce que vous n'aimez pas? 🇫🇷

Ben.

In English you say well or um or you know.
In French people say ben.

Ben, je ne sais pas — Well, I do not know.
Ben, c'est compliqué — Well, it is complicated.
Ben oui! — Well yes of course!

Add ben to any sentence today. Feel how natural it sounds.

Formel — with someone you do not know well:
Quel est votre métier? — What is your job?

Informel — with a friend:
Tu fais quoi comme travail? — What do you do for work?

Two questions. Learn them both.
