One year ago, we launched an ambitious vision : the Bilingual and competitive FEF project. Last week, at the Mid-Term Steering Committee hosted by the Embassy of France in Nigeria, we had the opportunity to reflect on how far we have come and, more importantly, how much further we can go. Over the past twelve months, the Bilingual & Competitive project has achieved important milestones:
Establishment of French Resource Centres in 10 partner universities
Training of university lecturers in innovative approaches to French for Specific and Professional Purposes (FOS/FLE)
Deployment of the IF Classe platform to strengthen continuous professional development
Development of locally relevant teaching resources and digital content
Reinforcement of partnerships with universities, Alliances Françaises, educational authorities and professional organisations
Organisation of linguistic and cultural activities connecting French with employability, innovation and intercultural dialogue;
Launch of new digital initiatives, including À toi le micro Naija, to promote French beyond the classroom.
The FEF project has brought together 22 universities from across Nigeria, representing the country’s geographical, cultural and academic diversity. Together, they are building a national community committed to reimagining what French can mean for students’ futures.
