NACTAL Nigeria participates in the Project Steering Committee (PSC) Meeting of the Strengthening Fact-Based and Data-Driven Migration Governance and Management in Nigeria.
The PSC meeting held on the 24th November, 2025, in the UN house had over 37 participants from deferent migration and Trafficking stakeholders.

On the invitation of the Honorable Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice of Lagos State, Lawal Pedro SAN and the Executive Director, Sudrik Global Justice Institute, Pepperdine University, California USA, Professor Cameron Mc Collum. NACTAL President participated and moderated a panel session on the 2025 African Colloquium Against Human Trafficking: A United Front Against Ritual Abuse and Sacrifice taking place at Radisson Blu Hotel Lagos Nigeria on 24th to 25th October 2025.
This is an initiative and partnership of the Pepperdine Sudris Global Institute and the Lagos State Government.
Over 400 legal practitioners ranging from Attorney Generals and Commissioners of Justices of several states in Nigeria and other countries of West, East and Central Africa as well as law enforcement agencies, prosecutors and civil society organizations including community and religious leaders gathered in Lagos to deliberate on this very important topic which has remained silent for a very long time.
There was an unanimous resolution by all stakeholders that it is important to confront this menace with all available laws and legislations as well as building strong partnerships
The President was honored to have had the chance once again to represent civil society organizations working on human trafficking and exploitation in Nigeria and West Africa on the invitation of the Government of Lagos state.
He remains ever committed to lending his voice towards ending all forms of human trafficking and exploitation in Nigeria and around the world

NACTAL Hosts Malian Delegation to Share Expertise in Combating Human Trafficking
Today, Wednesday 27 August, 2025, the Network Against Child Trafficking, Abuse and Labour (NACTAL) Nigeria, under the leadership of National President Abdulganiyu Abubakar, hosted a delegation of Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants (TIPSOM) stakeholders from Mali at its National Office in Abuja.
The Malian delegation, led by Mrs. Oumou Naire, National President for Integration in Fighting Crimes and Seeking Justice, Mali, stated that the purpose of the visit was to gain a comprehensive understanding of the human trafficking landscape and operations in Nigeria for adoption in Mali.
The delegation further aimed to observe and learn from NACTAL's experiences to help improve their national policies and practices, and strengthen systems to combat human trafficking within Mali.
During the meeting, Mr. Abubakar welcomed the Malian delegation, emphasizing NACTAL's commitment to sharing its expertise.
The NACTAL Programme Manager Paulinus Onabe provided an overview of NACTAL, highlighting its vision, mission, core values, key partnerships, target beneficiaries, achievements, and challenges.
The presentation, further elaborated by the National President, stimulated insightful discussions and collaborative recommendations .
The meeting was also attended by Mrs. Ugo Laureal Ogbunude, former Technical Advisor, Partnership, under the A-TIPSOM project, who played a vital role in supporting the establishment of the West Africa Coalition Against Trafficking In Persons and Smuggling of Migrants (WACTIPSOM).
Mrs. Ogbunude expressed her satisfaction with the positive outcomes resulting from her efforts to support the establishment of the regional platform.
The engaging and insightful meeting concluded with expressions of gratitude from the NACTAL National President and Mrs. Abimbola Adewunmi,
TIPSOM Portfolio, UNODC Regional Office for West and Central Africa.
She commended NACTAL's dedication and willingness to sharing its knowledge with the Malian delegation.
Following the success of the meeting, the Malian delegation visited WOTCLEF, a NACTAL member organization shelter, for a site visit. The team was warmly received by Mrs. Imabong Ladipo-Sanusi, the NACTAL North Central zonal coordinator

NACTAL NIGERIA RECEIVES DELEGATION FROM THE CATHOLIC SECRETARIAT OF NIGERIA MIGRANTS & REFUGEES UNIT at the NACTAL National Secretariat, Abuja
The National President highlighted the alarming realities of human trafficking, describing it as one of the most severe and criminalized offenses globally and within Nigeria. He explained the common modus operandi, where victims are first kept in secluded locations before being transported to their final destinations.
He noted that human trafficking emerged as a major concern in Nigeria around the year 2000, with most victims exploited for sexual purposes and forced labor, often outside the country. He attributed victims’ vulnerability largely to rural origins characterized by poverty and lack of basic amenities.
The President introduced NACTAL’s work, emphasizing its commitment to raising awareness, recognizing the red flags of trafficking, and implementing the “three pillars” of anti-trafficking interventions. He expressed his interest to develop joint programs and activities with the Catholic Secretariat to strengthen the fight against
The Reverend Father commended NACTAL’s work and acknowledged the shared mission between both organizations. He expressed delight at the meeting, noting that he had often heard positive reports about NACTAL’s activities.
