*A tree will never BEND for you to CLIMB*
*Climbing a tree must start from the GROUND*
*Success will never lower its STANDARDS to accommodate you*
*You have to RAISE your standards to ACHIEVE success*
*God PROVIDES food for every BIRD, but not in its NEST*
*Manna was to be PICKED, it never fell in the baskets of Israelites*
*Today RISE up to the CHALLENGES ahead of you and FACE your FEARS.
Life is the sum of our choices.
How to earn the respect of your Learners
1. Do what you say (integrity)
2. Try to see from their point of view (understanding)
3. Feel their pain (empathy)
4. Don't just rebuke for wrong doings, praise also for good works.
5. Avoid name calling
6. Be knowledgeable
7. Pray for them, rather than curse them
8. Be truly concerned about their growth.
9. Get to know them
10. Be genuine, don't fake it and remember to
dress smartly.
The child
The boy-child is illiterate because of his poor background which is replete with hopelessness and destitution.
*He turns unruly because he sees no one that cares. He impregnates the girl by error; the intention was to have the only pleasure cheaply available to him
*The girl-child, on the other hand, is not r***d nor forced, except that she is impoverished and sees the need for her to maybe relish the same fun with the same boy whom she likes, or even trade her body for money, or, where needs be, adopt illegitimate marriage as an escape from her excruciating poverty. The poverty which still besets the boy-child.
*Many an NGO emphasises that attention be given to the girl-child more. Barely a single one imploring for the boy-child!
*Why?
*Both of them need help. It is about time we stopped the unequivocal girl-child crusade, and begin to advocate for both sexes.
*We are all victims of the anomalies of our existence. No one singly deserves the victim-play at the expense of the other.
Help the children!!!
2021 Jamb is just few days away and I'd love to tell you this:
Though the amount of work you've been putting into studies for the past few months matters a lot, WHATEVER you do in THESE REMAINING FEW DAYS before your exam CAN MAKE A LOT OF DIFFERENCE.
Yes, I know you're tired and unmotivated and scared but you need to pull yourself together and get this done once and for all. Don't settle for mediocrity, pursue excellence with all your might. I'm in the right position to tell you that excellence is profitable. I really have profited from excellence and I want you to experience the same.
Here's one thing I usually tell myself when I was just in your position. I'd tell myself that " if studying is suffering, I'd rather suffer for these few months than suffer staying home for another 365 days"
Hey friend get your stuffs together and start studying — more than ever before.
Here are few things I suggest you do more in the remaining days before your exam
1. Practice as much as you can.
Jamb basically test 3 things, your retention, your understanding and your ability to apply the concept you've learned.
The first two you can achieve by studying your textbooks, notes or taking classes. For the latter, you need to practice past questions. I think it's a great way to know what you don't know and work on it.
2. Speed up your reading.
If you have to suspend social media please do, there is plenty of time later to do all those.
You need to give yourself time to study, at least for these little while. Cover and understand as many topics as you can. Discuss what you've learned with your fellow Jambites. Just try to get knowledge from various sources. Teach people, be taught too.
3. Learn to be time conscious.
I think this is about time you started reminding yourself that your exam is going to be conducted under a limited time. You too should simulate this. Practice with time.
4. Activate your exam mode.
This is funny but true. There's something like exam mode and you can reach it by reminding yourself you have an exam. Make your brain the sharpest it could be. Brainstorm and brainstorm and brainstorm.
5. Take care of yourself physically, spiritually and mentally. Always remember that you're the most valuable asset you've got.
I heard this slang ' You are high on Maggi cubes' and I have always thought it was just a slang... But empirical evidence is suggesting it may not just be a slang...
Like some one said, open your eyes...
If you see Maggi or similar seasoning cubes wraps lying around in your house and you are sure you did not use them...or you see Maggi cubes wraps in your children's room or in their custody don't over look it...
Like many young people are suggesting... Maggi is mixed with coke, LaCasera and other juice to get a high similar to hard drugs...
Curiously many times you screen for regular drugs in the system, they may not be present as Science students are working overtime...
Talk to your wards and children, engage them, know their friends, teach them that experience is not necessarily the best teacher, tell them about the dangers of experimenting with drugs, teach them how choices can determine the course of ones life...
Stay away from drugs...and stop being a 'science student'.
