For eleven editions, the Youth Development Centre has trained over 500 young girls across Ogun State through its Girls for Technology initiative, a program aimed at introducing the girlchild to digital literacy, preparing them for the future of work.

Earlier this year, we took that same mission to the boychild through the Boys for Tech Initiative.

This summer we brought both genders together, creating a shared learning experience where boys and girls could learn, explore, create and grow side by side.
Over the course of the 4-day training, participants were introduced to basics of the computer, ICT, and Microsoft Office Suites. They explored the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence, digital literacy and Computer Based Tests.

Beyond digital literacy, they were also introduced to the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, helping them to know their roles as global citizens.

In addition, they had a pep talk, a moment of encouragement to remind every participant of their potential as well as focus on the struggles and advantages associated with being a teenager.

By the end, students didn't just learn, they created. They designed graphics. They debated. They stood before their peers and presented their own PowerPoint slides, with confidence and clarity.

This is what growth looks like. This is what preparation for the future of work looks like.

Through the Boys & Girls for Tech Initiative, we are committed to fascilitating the release of the creative energies of the next generation of youth.
