*NIGERIA @56*

In the spirit of Independence, I will like to congratulate all Nigerians masses for their resilience even in the face of difficulties and challenges

As this stage of our existence as a nation, it saddens my heart that we still struggle to meet up with other countries of our age bracket despite the immense natural and human resources at our disposal.

Over the years, this nation has been suffering from the cancer of corruption and political instability.

It is high time we reflect on those cores values of our national existence which was the backbone of the rapid development achieved by our founding fathers during the early years of our Independence.

For the country to move forward, the leaders and the lead must put her interest first above their personal, ethnic and political gains in every position they find themselves The leaders should lead by example by making necessary and effective sacrifices for the growth and development of the nation.

It is no longer news that the era of oil boom is over, a period when our leaders failed to plan for the raining days but was busy squandering the money thinking that it will last forever. In the reality of the economic recession caused by the sudden shortfall in oil revenues, the government ( legislative and the executive) should take drastic steps to review the national budget and re-direct funds to the key sectors and come up with policies and regulations that will contribute to restoring our economy.

Yes it is true that "CHANGE BEGINS WITH ME", but irrespective of the amount of sacrifices the citizens make, until the leaders develop the will to put behind the comfort of their political position and begin to value this nation by seeing themselves as servants of Nigeria according to the line in the national pledge 'to serve Nigerian with all my strength'-Nigeria will remain in her state of stunted growth.

I am bullish that Nigerian will be great again if we can arise and obey the call to serve and honour her.

Yes NIGERIA will be great again

GOD BLESS THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC NIGERIA
