BREAKING: AE-FUNAI Appoints Professor Daniel Nwachukwu as 4th Vice-Chancellor
The Governing Council of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI), Ebonyi State, has appointed Professor Daniel Chukwuemeka Nwachukwu as the institution’s 4th Vice-Chancellor.
The appointment was announced on Saturday, December 20, 2025, following what the council described as a thorough, transparent, and competitive selection process involving over 40 senior professors.
Professor Nwachukwu is a Professor of Cardiovascular Physiology in the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus (UNEC). He previously served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor of UNEC, elected in 2023.
He obtained his first degree in Human Physiology from the University of Lagos (1995), his Master’s degree from the University of Benin (1997), and his PhD from the same institution in 2012.
With over 26 years of academic experience, Professor Nwachukwu joined the University of Nigeria in July 1999 and rose to the rank of Professor in 2016.
He hails from Okposi in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State and is married with children.

OAU Final-Year Student Accuses University of Removing His Name From Graduation List After Protesting Wike’s Visit
A final-year student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has alleged that the institution deliberately removed his name from the graduation list as a punishment for protesting the visit of FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

Ebonyi Governor Pays Surprise Visit to EBSU Faculty of Law, Orders Immediate Improvements
The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, on Wednesday paid an unscheduled visit to the Faculty of Law, Ebonyi State University, to assess the condition of the faculty, its learning facilities, and the overall academic environment.
During the visit, the governor identified several lapses within the faculty and immediately directed the Dean and other members of the faculty leadership to address them. He stressed the importance of higher standards, improved facility management, and a more proactive commitment to academic excellence, noting that institutions training future legal practitioners must reflect seriousness and discipline.
Governor Nwifuru also interacted with students during the tour. He praised their dedication and potential while urging them to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to their studies, emphasizing that excellence in the legal profession requires hard work and integrity.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the state’s educational institutions and ensuring that students receive quality training in a conducive learning environment.
According to the governor, Ebonyi State will continue working toward a future where academic excellence becomes the norm.
