If I have not addressed you as “Your Worship, Judge Binta Nyako”, it’s because you’ve not been sounding like a Judge lately.

I mean, how would a Judge decree that Igbo national dress should not be worn in her court, a court built and maintained with Igbo money in part?

I have never heard anything as ridiculous, and I ask myself how the wife of Admiral Murtala Nyako (Rtd), the man who, when he was Navy Commander, brought a message for me from my family in England in 1979 and I went to Tamandu Barracks, Lagos to pick it up, could utter such extremely provocative words.

I don’t know if you were born by 1979 since when I have considered myself a friend of your husband.

I don’t know if you were in your Yola residence when I visited with General Muhammadu Buhari and others on campaign tour in 2003.

IGBO’S INDEPENDENCE.
The First Man to Propose a Modern Independent Nation of Igbos in 1865.

Do you know that an Igbo man planned and proposed a modernised self-governed Nation/Empire/Republic of Igbos 39 years before the birth of Nigeria as a country? His name is JAMES AFRICANUS BEALE HORTON (1835–1883).

He published and sent the British government his proposal titled, “The EMPIRE OF THE EBOES/HACKBOUS/HEEBOS/IBOES/IGBOES/EGBOES, with the Requirements Necessary for Establishing that Self Government Recommended by the Committee of the House of Commons, 1865: and a Vindication of the African Race.”
This proposal included a plan for
· A Self-governed independent nation
· an army,
· currency
· Support for modern civilisation and economic empowerment.

His proposal was hinged on his research showing that the Igbo race was the most emulative, intelligent and adaptive "race" in West Africa, and with modern support, they will vindicate the black race.

He also supported the hypothetical but controversial Jewish migration origin of the Igbos at that time.
Horton was born in the then British colonial Sierra Leone, near Freetown.

His parents were former recaptive Igbo slaves. Horton lived in Gloucester until 1847 when he moved to Freetown to attend the local Church Missionary Society School (CMS).
In 1853 he was moved to Freetown’s Fourah Bay Institution to train for a ministry in the Church of England.
His seminary studies ended two years later when the CMS selected him to study medicine in preparation for a medical career in the British army. Horton attended Kings College in London for three years and then Edinburgh University for a fourth year to earn an MD.
In 1859 Horton was commissioned back to West Africa as a staff-assistant surgeon in the British army. His works led him to correlate topography and human health, developing theories that eventually would earn him a reputation in the medical world and a promotion to the army rank of surgeon-major.

Horton became more concerned with politics during his military service in West Africa. Horton refutes the derogatory racial theories about Africans rife in Victorian Britain and its empire.
However, Horton also consider himself, a loyal subject of the British establishment and envisioned that Britain should have a strong cultural and technological influence in the development of Africa.

Thus his philosophies, radical when colonial powers were dominant, have acted as a basis for the future advancement of African independence and nationalist ideologies.

At 45, Horton retired and returned to Freetown, where he continued to promote African education as the key to self-governance, and he further provided scholarships to hopeful young Africans.
He also took a keen interest in Africa's technical and economic development and Opened a bank called the Commercial Bank of West Africa.

His business and gold mining exploits made him one of the richest men in Africa by 1880.
Although his dream of an independent Self-governed Igbo nation was not realised in his lifetime, his political thoughts birthed the African political thoughts during the colonisation of Africa after his death.
James Africanus Beale Horton died in Freetown, Sierra Leone, in 1883.

WHY THE SOUTH WEST SHOULD SUPPORT THE SOUTH EAST TO PRODUCE THE NEXT PRESIDENT.

When Ekwueme formed G-34 that transformed to PDP, Tinubu was in exile while Obasanjo was in prison.
That Igbo man put up that structure to stop Abacha from transforming from military to civilian president. Amidst their struggle Abacha died and they turned it to a political party...PDP.
Remember that both the Chairman and Secretary of G-34 were Igbo men....Ekwueme and Timothy Nwala.
Also remember that Tim Nwala drafted the PDP Constitution.
That constitution was vividly clear on the terms that must be fulfilled before anyone could fly the presidential flag of the party.

The constitution had made it mandatory that you must deliver your ward and L.G.A to the party in the Local Government Elections before you can be deemed qualified.

But a Yoruba man, Obasanjo who was in prison when the Igbo man, Ekwueme, put up that structure was brought out and the military manipulated the whole primaries for him.
Many Igbos were not happy when that happened as some told Ekwueme to go to court and get judgement on the premise that OBJ lost his ward and L.G.A to AD in the 1999 local government elections. But rather than go to court, Ekwueme came home and called on Igbos to forget what happened, and support Obasanjo....and the game was over.

For this singular reason, Lagos state government hosted Ekwueme's birthday every year till he died.

Ekwueme told Igbos that for the sake of June 12, Igbos needed to make the necessary sacrifice to pacify our Yoruba brothers and we nodded in agreement. Since then, the Yoruba have also produced the vice president with the help of Igbo men like Chibuike Amaechi, Rochas Okorocha, Chris Ngige, Ogbonnaya Onu, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, etc who threw in their weight for that project. As a member of the Merger Committee that formed the APC in 2013, I would also count myself among the lot.
Many of you argue that Igbos have no right to ask for their mandate in APC because according you, APC is more of a Yoruba party.
Now may I also ask you what business Obasanjo, a Yoruba man, had, flying the presidential ticket of a party that was largely put together by Igbo men?

A little introspection into these details would give any discerning mind a clear view on why the Yoruba must support Igbo presidency this time.

DO NOT TARNISH THE IMAGE OF THE IGBOS.

The Igbo are over 60m people scattered all over the world. Whenever the names of those who are high achievers and represents Nigeria in many invents devoid of quota system are called, the names are always majority Igbo.

The majority of the names and of course the prominent names in the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles (men) and Super Falcons (women) are dominated by the Igbo.

When the roll-call of the best performing students in the US are called, the names are always the Igbo.

When you mention the most educated immigrant group in the US of Nigerian origin, the majority of names are always Igbo.

Whenever there are lists of most innovative and successful foreign nationals of Nigerian origin all over the western hemisphere, from Australia to Europe to America and even to the far East, the usual names are always Igbo.

The shinning lights of the Nigerian technocrats are mostly the Igbo and the records are there. They are renowned, not just in Nigeria, but very much commands presence all over the world, in World Bank, IMF etc.

In the great Novel called the "The Arrow of God" written by one of the greatest writers and story teller in the world and a great Igbo son in the person of "Chinua Achebe" of blessed memory the author of another book, a masterpiece "The Things Fall Apart" which has been translated to over 50 other languages around the world. In that book, The Arrow of God a universal truth was reaffirmed, which says: "in the house of a great man, there are thieves, liars, saints, good and bad people".

This is the samething with the Igbo and of course any other group in the world. The Igbo are not immune to producing the headache of the society just the same way they are not found wanting in producing the finest of the society.

Thus, having said that over 40m fine people can't be condemned because of the few erring members of her clan. The Igbo are Noble people, and are achievement driven. They are the cord that holds Nigeria, and any day Nigeria let the Igbo go and establish their own country, call it Biafra, Nigeria will crash like a wine glass that fell on a paved floor.

Again, it is an established fact that when the erring members of the Igbo commits a crime anywhere in the world, the gutter media in Nigeria will quickly brand them Igbo or specify the states of the Igbo where he/she comes from. I have no problem with this, however, when the same persons win laurels, accolades and anything positive in the world, the same gutter media will brand them as Nigerians. This is utter and annoying hypocrisy and a generational drive to always paint the Igbo in a bad light while taking credits of her positive heights all over the world.

Then again, the same media and especially the social media, when an Ikechukwu, Emeka, Osita, Uche, Ugochukwu, Nzeogwu from Delta or Rivers state commits a crime he will automatically become Igbo by default. I have no problem with this as they are truly and unquestionably Igbo through and through. However, the same people will be branded Deltan and Rivers man when it suit their narratives, sadly some elements in the said group validates this stupid and idiotic claims of Uche, Emeka, Osita etc not being Igbo but that vigour is always silent whenever any of them commits crime and is branded Igbo.

Then you see how the media in Nigeria are constantly dividing the Igbo with their hypocrisy. It is on record that Vilifying and hating the Igbo is the only thing that unites other Nigerians second to only Football/Soccer.

The Igbo are like seeds and they grow even when not successfully planted. Over 3m of her kith and kin were murdered by the Nigeria government in connivance with Britain between 1967-1970 for daring to chart their course in a new country, Biafra. Where they felt protected and saved from annihilation. The evil Nigeria still brought the genocide into their corridors and by the end of the 30 months genocide, over 3 million of them were murdered in the remorseless genocide against a people. At the end of the war, they were economically strangulated and were technically turned beggers in the minds of Nigerians. All their assets were confiscated and branded abandoned properties. Their monies regardless of how much they had were seized by Nigeria and they were given only £20 to start life, not minding if they have a million pounds in their bank accounts. That is how evil Nigeria is towards the Igbo. Okay, let me not bore you with another horrendous history of the masacre and crimes against humanity commited by Nigerians against the Igbo.

Going forward, we must search our conscience as people of reason to condemn evil by its name. Crime has no ethnic group, it has no race and no people are immune to it. Criminals must be treated as criminals and excused from their race. I condemn in totality any type of crime but I am against painting a whole people bad because of the erring few members of such group.
