HOW TO CORRECT/ DISCIPLINE A CHILD WHO TELLS LIES.

As a parent or an educator, your aim is to correct the misbehaviour (telling lies) not to inflict pain on the child for lying. We have established the fact that this does not bring a permanent change. If beating works, it works temporarily.

Here are some things you can do to guide the actions of a child who is lying.

1. Find out why the child is lying constantly.
Is it out of fear that you will beat if he/she says the truth?
Is it because of lack of self control?
Is it out of copying peers?
There could be more reasons.

2. Let the child know that lying is bad. Some children don't know, they are just catching cruise.
Use compelling stories to drive home your point.

3. Tell the child to always say the truth, you can even promise a reward.

When my children were quite young, I kept training them to say the truth and I establish the fact that no matter how bad what they have done is, they should say it we will solve it together. It could be worse if they don't. You may try this method.

4. Praise the child for saying the truth whenever he/she says the truth. Don't punish the child after saying the truth even if the action is bad.
This will help the child to trust you as well as making the child to say the truth some other time.

5. Attach consequences to telling lies and communicate this to the child.

6. Follow through with the consequences if the child tell a lie. Be firm!!

7. Be a good role model. If you are telling lies but telling the child to say the truth, it won't work.
The child will do what you do not what you say! Did you get that 🤷

Parenting these days is not an easy task but consistent prayers to God and being exemplary in conduct will help parents/guardians to win over most abnormalities in children.

It can also reduce creativity and imagination.
It's important for children to have a balance of active and passive play, so they can develop a range of skills. Puzzles, board games, and building blocks are great for developing cognitive skills, as they require children to think creatively and use logic. Encourage your child to play outdoors, engage in creative activities, and interact with others in person.
This will enable them develop their social and emotional skills, which are also important for academic success. So, let's encourage our children to play more, so they can learn and grow in all aspects of life .
