6 MONEY RULES NO ONE EVER TOLD YOU

I have taught the first rule in episode 8, this is the continuation)

2. Income is dependent on the problem you are solving

One can work so hard but he is solving a little problem.

And so he will earn little money no matter how hard he works and spends energy.

If you solve a high-value problem or a problem that has a mass market, you can earn more. But if you solve small problems for a small number of people, you will earn low.

For example: A house help is solving a problem for one household, but she only can earn a little.

But the agency that recruited her is solving the same problem for a larger audience.

And connecting two different customer segments - the help with the families in need of help, they will earn more.

3. Energy spent is not equal to income

Some of us think that if we work harder, we will earn more. Yes, more work will bring more income.

Yet, it has to be that you are solving more problems for the same people.

Or you are solving the same problem for more people.

Read that again…

Yet, it has to be that you are solving more problems for the same people.

Or you are solving the same problem for more people

4. So, income is a measure of the kind of product you are selling or the service you are providing.

When you do not have much income, it is smoke, not the fire.

The answer is not to go looking for money but to sit down and ask yourself – am I solving problems for people?

Anyone who has income without problem-solving is a thief and a criminal. People cannot tell what or how he amassed his wealth.

Income is dependent on the problem you solve.

Is your income small?

1. Solve more problems for the same people

2. Solve the problem for more people.

If you do not have income, it means you are not productive and not offering any VALUE/SOLUTION for which you can earn.

5. SOLUTION IS VALUE

If your income is poor or small, it means that the value you are offering is small or poor.

This shows that income or money is a meter for measuring the value you are giving to others.

6. INCOME IS A MEASURE OF THE VALUE/SOLUTION YOU ARE OFFERING.

This is also why professional begging Is evil.

When people make it a point of duty to live off others, then something is wrong.

Someone can need help but to be a professional beggar is against the laws of living.

You should get a source of income no matter how small it is and then grow from there. Because a source of income is your ticket to living on Earth.

Work is not about money, work is about selflessness and offering help to others. Hence you take in and refuse to give out, you are in a big problem and the earth will throw you up.

Wondering why people die or get ill when they retire?

It is because we do not retire. Retirement is death. Earth is a place for work not rest. Hence, if you want to rest, you will die and go to rest.

You may retire from working for money but you can’t retire from work itself, no matter how small, do something.

This ensures you stay on this side of eternity.

THE ONE THING YOU BELIEVE ABOUT MONEY THAT HINDERS YOUR GROWTH

MONEY GROWS ON TREE

I know you have heard the adage that money does not grow on trees but that’s a lie. Money actually grows on trees and when you plant your own money tree, you will never run out of money.

The only reason why you are still struggling with money is because you think money doesn’t grow on trees.

The wealthy understand that money grows on trees, they plant as many as they want while you go working and crying for money.

Throw away the crab that money doesn’t grow on trees because it actually does.

INCOME:

On the road to wealth, the first step is to have a source of income. Every human being on earth should have a source of income; else that is an invitation to death.

You must be productive.

But what is income?

Income is money earned from providing a service or selling a product.

Products and services are solutions to problems.

For example: When you are hungry, you may go to the roadside cafeteria or eatery.
Asking them to give you food for a certain amount of money, say #500.
After eating, you pay for the meal and leave.

What happened above is that the woman who you bought food from solved the problem of hunger for you.

Not just hunger but fast delivery of food.

Market women solve this problem too except that it will be raw foodstuff that you have to cook.

The cafeteria solved the problems of hunger, time to cook, ingredients, and knowledge of how to cook.

This is why a cup of rice could sell for #200 in the market and the same cup of rice will sell for #500 in the restaurant.

Because they have solved more problems for you.

In Nigerian markets, blending is a business.

People offer blending services to those who buy things from them as only a few have blenders at home. – that’s a solution to a problem.

We can then say that income is what you earn from solving problem(s) for people.

1. Problem solved = income.

The question now becomes, are you solving problems for anyone or are you looking for money?

Do you see why someone can work so hard and earn a little?
It is because he is solving a little problem.

We can also say that the amount of money you make is dependent on the problem you are solving.

(Episode 7)

2 MONEY RULES NO ONE EVER TOLD YOU.

I had this friend in school who studied with me in year one. We solved questions together and I expected we get the same GP, we were not seatmates and didn't copy each other.

When our first-semester result came out, he comfortably made a first class and I needed 0.01 to move from upper credit to first class.

I didn't understand it, I asked a lot of questions, so I asked him.

We lived in the school hostel and the male and female hostels were opposite each other. After class each day, we will eat and then meet up in the evening prayer for Catholics by 7 pm.

I studied Mechanical Engineering.

Then, we will go fetch water together and go for night class from there. By 8:30 pm, we were already in class studying.

We would study till midnight or even 2 am, then we would return to sleep. That was our daily routine.

He asked me if I slept immediately after I got back to my room, and I answered yes.

He said something striking - I don't sleep immediately, I take extra hours studying what we have tomorrow.

Because I knew you would ask me questions when you didn't understand something, I had to prepare and ensure I understood everything.

This guy did double work, no wonder he had better results than I did. This stuck with me, it's been 13 years.

How does this concern you?

1. MONEY ANSWERS TO KNOWLEDGE MORE THAN HARD WORK

What is the difference between a truck pusher and a bank manager?

Hard work?

No! I bet you, both men work hard but they work hard differently.

The truck pusher works hard with his physical strength while the bank manager works hard mentally.

Same work, different areas, and different parts of the body exercised.

The one who works hard with his body will be a slave to the one who works hard with his mind.

It is a knowledge quotient game.

What is the wisdom content of what you do? If you do not have extra knowledge, you will get average results like everyone else.

When you make money, have a budget for learning. If you invest in learning, you will increase your capacity to earn more.

But you work month to month, year to year and you do not improve the quality of knowledge you have.

Did you know that big companies have a department called “Research and Development”

This department has heavy funding to learn new behaviors and desires to be able to innovate and keep the company afloat.

Intention isn’t enough. Knowledge gives you the capacity to do more.

2. MONEY WANTS YOU TO SPEND IT

The spirit of money wants to push you to spend it immediately after you make it. Money is now a currency, which means that it flows.

This has several implications, one of which is that money is used to hinge or backed by gold which gives it stability.

Money was printed according to the availability of gold but President Nixon of the United States of America removed US dollars from the gold standard in 1971, which permitted them to print as much money as they wanted.

This made money flow and hence you make it, it wants to flow out of your hands.

Immediately you get an alert, the next thing you are thinking is what to do with it.

Learn to leave it in your account and pretend you didn’t know it had arrived. It will keep pushing you and reminding you of things, debts, desires, and expenses you have to make.

Hold it for at least 72 days, don’t spend, and don’t do anything with it.

After 72 hours, it will calm down, everything screaming at you – “BUY ME BUY ME” must have settled, then you can have a clear head to properly apportion it.

Dear Mr. & Mrs.

WHAT TO DO WHEN MONEY IS NOT ENOUGH.

I once worked in a company where our pay was reduced by 55%

If you were paid 100k, it reduced to 45k and our workload was tripled.

People left in droves.

I didn't leave. Infact a colleague was complaining bitterly, I told him to quit or stay quietly.

Be grateful for your employers, it is not easy to employ and pay people.

However...

Imagine having so much money that your problem becomes where to put the money?

Did you know there are people in this level?

There are 3 stages to wealth.

1. Not enough money
2. Just enough money
3. More than enough money.

We will focus on the first.

When money isn't enough, it is a symptom not problem.

There are many things it could be pointing to.

1. Low income
2. Poor savings
3. Zero or no investments.

Let's explore low income today.

Low income is a big issue and it could be one of this ...

1. Low salary
2. Low sales etc.

When money is not enough, people board resources.

That's the worst response you can give in this situation.

When the reduction came, I didn't leave because I needed to stay afloat for sometime, however I took it as a clue to expand what I was doing.

While others were complaining, I used my time and resources to get another stream of income.

However, they increased again after awhile.

My point is that when you are having not enough money, what brought you to this point is *HOARDING*

What will bring you out is the opposite of hoarding which is giving.

I am not talking about religious giving.

I am talking about giving to get knowledge or giving value to make money.

In your work, if you don't pay to learn more, you'll not grow and when they want to downsize, they start from you because you are not growing.

When you see clues, know it is time to innovate.

Clues like...

1. Reduction in pay
2. Low sales
3. Pressure at work
4. Toxic work environment
5. Employer picking at you
6. Failing health
7. Lack of time
8. Unhappiness etc.

These are clues telling you, you can't stay at this level anymore.

Move!

Any money you have, invest(give) to learn to improve.

If you hoard it to feed with it, you'll definitely finish it and go broke properly.

If customers are not coming, it is a call to learn. What you know isn't working anymore.

Most of us just sit and complain.

You need a higher knowledge, the kind that requires you pay for it.

When you learn, you can make new money and stay afloat.

But when you hoard what you have out of fear, it will finish one day and your fear will come upon you.

Move now they have not sacked you.
Move now that small customers are showing up.

Use the resources you have now to sponsor your future.

DO YOU LIKE FOOD TOO MUCH? FIND YOUR FINANCIAL PATTERNS

While growing up, I had this friend whose father would always take them out, especially on festive periods.

It wasn’t the in thing then but her parents were exposed.

I was invited to join them on many occasions but the warnings of my parents made me decline.

In fact then, eating outside the home was almost like a taboo and any child who ate outside was tagged “LONG THROAT” (Long throat is a Nigerian term for glutton)

So, we used to be proud that we hadn’t taken anything in our friend's house, that kept us safe from being initiated into a cult. 😆 😂

Now, see how times have changed that people pay others to cook for them.

Anyway, the point of the story is to show you how the pattern I saw at home didn’t let me enjoy life even when my parents did trust this family.

Yet, I was bound.

That is how it is in your home, your patterns and behaviors are the ones that were modeled to you, you practice them unconsciously.

Let me list a few patterns here, hopefully you may identify which is yours.

1. LIVING ON DEBT

Some of us grew up in debt. Especially if our parents are/were civil servants whose salaries were not enough. Before the salaries come, they have accumulated debt which they have to pay back once their salaries arrive.

Nothing remains after debt payment, the cycle continues month after month and year after year.

2. PROJECT BY DEBT:

Some of us grew up in homes where each project required borrowing to carry out. Projects like house rent, school fees, traveling or even buying a car.

Check your life, do you borrow to pay house rent? Where did you pick it from?

3. FEEDING BY DEBT:

Some of us are in the class of people whose bellies dictate the direction of their money.

The bulk of the money goes into expenses for food. The project at home is to ensure there is food available for the entire year.

All you are thinking about is food, food, and food! In fact, the show of wealth is the dainty meals prepared at home.

You invite your friends over to eat, just to show that you are wealthy.

4. BORROWING:

Some of us live on loans! We borrow from Peter to pay Paul and borrow again from Paul to pay Peter.

Paul and Peter think we are faithful borrowers, however, we are just flipping loans and not paying them off.

We do not have savings and whenever there is an issue, the first thing that comes to our mind is – who do I borrow from?

5. BEGGERS:

Some of us beg for a living. We construct a message and send it to 50 contacts, 5 or 10 people respond, and we have raised the amount we need.

Bad!

Sit down with your spouse and identify negative patterns you exhibit in your marriage. Knowing them is the beginning of changing them.

Dear Mr & Mrs

DO NOT WAIT FOR A BIG BREAK.

We were having a conversation as friends and one of us made a cutting remark.

Him: Why didn't my parents have landed properties? What were they doing when their mates were making money?

Me: They were looking for a big break.

They were waiting to make thousands of money (thousands were like millions now), and it never came.

Someone else said he always heard his father say that there is money for building a house, that when that money comes, he will know and he will start building.

The money never came.

Me: Even if there is a big break, these kind of people will never get it.

Big breaks are worked out!

You see people working hard and hitting their goals gradually, one day the goal is visible to everyone and they say he got a big break.

No! The water has been trickling!

He's been working.

This evening, I was discussing with my husband and we agreed that we have done in 5 years what our fathers didn't do in 30 years.

It isn't because we are better, it is because we are so intentional.

We looked at our homes, where we are and what we want.

We identified patterns and we are breaking the ceilings gradually.

Stop waiting for big breaks! Work for it!

If you don't take the bull by horn, nothing will get done.

You are waiting for life but life is waiting for you.

Stop waiting to earn more, look for ways to earn more.

Even if you don't break through, at least it will prepare you for opportunities.
