*On OTP/CODE receipt in email for eLearning Portal*

We are aware that many students are experiencing difficulties receiving the OTP via their school email to access the eLearning portal.

Please note that this issue stems from the portal itself, not your email, so there’s no need to worry. The management is working on resolving it, and we will keep you updated once it's fully operational.

Currently, only students who have linked the Google Authenticator app with the eLearning portal can access it without any issues.

Additionally, please be informed that there will be an orientation for Online Facilitation on October 5th, 2024, at 10 a.m.

*Follow these steps to log in to the eLearn platform:*
1. Visit the eLearn Portal: https://elearn.nou.edu.ng/
2. Click the "Log in" button.
3. Enter your matriculation number as your username.
4. Enter your password.

*Note for New Users:* Use your matriculation number as both your username and password (ensure that "nou" is in lowercase).

*Verification Process:*
You will need to enter a verification code for confirmation.
The code will be sent to your student email, or you can retrieve it from your authenticator app.

*The Breakdown of TMA*

TMA stands for "Tutor Marked Assessment." Similar to the mid-term tests in primary schools, which contributes to our final grades in each term, both in primary and secondary education.

At NOUN, TMA is significant for all students as it factors into the semester results. It consists of 30 questions, each carrying one mark. However, these questions are not released all at once. Instead, they are divided into three parts: TMA1, TMA2, and TMA3.

Each TMA comprises 10 questions, totaling 30 for the course. For instance, NOU107 would have 10 questions for TMA1, 10 for TMA2, and 10 for TMA3.

The reason for this division is to prevent overwhelming students with too many questions at once. Imagine if all questions for all registered courses were released simultaneously; it would be quite burdensome.

Thus, NOUN releases TMAs in batches. TMA1 is opened first, followed by TMA2 after the expiry date for TMA1, and the same applies to TMA3.

It's essential to note that TMAs remain open until their specified closing dates. This means you can attempt them gradually. For example, if you're tackling NOU107 TMA1 with 10 questions, you can answer a few today, a few tomorrow, and so on until completed. However, once you submit your TMA, you cannot alter your answers.

At the semester's end, the total TMA score is added to the exam score, constituting your semester grade.

Attention freshers, please take note of the following important information:

The school fees at NOUN are divided into three parts:

1. Semester Fee: This is a mandatory fee for all students who wish to participate in a semester. It encompasses various expenses such as library fees, ID card fees, etc. For Freshers UGs(Undergraduate), the compulsory fee is ₦58,000, while for returning students, it ranges from ₦20,500 to ₦29,000, depending on the year of entry into NOUN. However, merely paying this fee does not constitute full semester registration.

2. Course Registration Fee: This fee covers the registration for courses in a semester. Currently, a 2-unit course costs ₦2,000, a 3-unit course costs ₦2,500, and a 4-unit course costs ₦3,000. It's essential to note that course registration follows a logical sequence, and without paying the semester registration fee, you cannot proceed to course registration.

3. Exam Registration Fee: This is the final fee for the semester, covering the registration for exams related to the courses you've registered for. The fee is ₦1,500 per exam registration, and for practical courses, the exam registration fee is ₦6,500. It's only after completing this third stage of registration that you've fully completed the semester registration process and become eligible for Tutor-Marked Assignments (TMA), exams, and results.

To simplify:

- Semester Registration + Course Registration - Exam Registration = Basic resources (ID card, library usage, hard copies of course materials) without access to online facilitation, TMAs, exams, or results.

- Semester Registration + Course Registration + Exam Registration = Full access to all resources and activities in school, including ID card, library usage, hard copies of course materials, TMAs, exams, and exam results.

The total sum of these fees constitutes the school fees.
