The Field Has Been Measured. Only One Name Remains Standing.

THE HOUR OF HONEST COMPARISON

Ndi Obingwa, Osisioma and Ugwunagbo, four chapters have laid the standard before you: readiness, record, competence, and accessibility. Today we apply that standard to the entire field, and we do so without apology, because the seat at stake is too consequential for polite silence.

A CONTEST OF CLAIMS, A RECORD OF ONE

Every aspirant has a slogan. Every aspirant has a promise. Every aspirant has a poster, a jingle, and a rehearsed smile. Yet a contest for the Green Chamber is not a beauty pageant, and it is not a sea*on for experiments. It is a serious assignment reserved for those who can demonstrate the capacity to carry it.

Set the qualifications side by side and the difference is plain. Who among the aspirants has sat in a legislative chamber and risen to the office of Majority Leader? Who has managed legislative business, earned the confidence of colleagues, and worked with an executive to deliver for the people? Who has a body of work in tricycles, empowerment items, school blocks, and roads that citizens can point to without being told where to look?

There is only one answer to each of these questions, and it bears the name of Hon. Solomon Akpulonu.

ENTHUSIASM IS NOT EXPERIENCE

Let us be candid with one another. Enthusiasm is admirable, but it is not a qualification. Good intentions have never drafted a bill. Sincere ambition has never defended an appropriation before a skeptical committee. A generous heart, however genuine, cannot substitute for years spent mastering the procedures, the protocols, and the politics of lawmaking.

The National Assembly is no classroom for beginners. It has no patience for the untested, and the constituency has no time to fund an education at its own expense. Those who arrive without preparation spend the first year learning where the chambers are, the second finding their footing, and the remaining term explaining to their people why little has changed.

THE SCRIPTURE SPEAKS

"For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another." Psalm 75:6 to 7. Leadership is a trust, and a wise electorate entrusts it to those whose preparation has already been proven.

WHY HALF MEASURES WILL NOT SUFFICE

Some will say the field is open and every aspirant deserves a chance. That is true of the ballot box, but it is not true of the standard. The ballot allows everyone to contest. Wisdom demands that we choose only the one who is fully equipped to deliver. To hand this constituency to a novice is to gamble with four years of its future, and Obingwa, Osisioma and Ugwunagbo are not a gambling table.

THE VERDICT AHEAD

Among all who seek this seat, one aspirant combines legislative experience, a verifiable record, genuine accessibility, and the humility to serve without applause. That aspirant is Hon. Solomon Akpulonu, and there is no serious comparison.

Beyond Promises: The Skill Set the Green Chamber Demands

WHAT LAWMAKING ACTUALLY REQUIRES

Ndi Obingwa, Osisioma and Ugwunagbo, we have looked at readiness and we have looked at record. Today we look at competence itself. What does it actually take to function on the floor of the House of Representatives, and who among the 2027 aspirants already carries that skill set?

A SEAT LEARNED, NOT INHERITED

Lawmaking is not oratory. It is not the loudest voice at a rally or the sharpest slogan on a poster. It is the patient work of drafting bills, scrutinizing budgets, sitting through committee sessions, and translating constituency need into legislative language that survives debate and produces appropriations. These are skills built over time, not discovered on the day of inauguration.

Hon. Solomon Akpulonu spent his tenure at the Abia State House of Assembly doing exactly this kind of work, rising to serve as Majority Leader, a position that does not go to the untested. Majority Leaders manage legislative business, coordinate with the executive, and carry the confidence of their colleagues. That is not a title handed out for popularity. It is earned through demonstrated capacity.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AMBITION AND APTITUDE

Every aspirant in this race wants the seat. Ambition is easy to display and costs nothing. Aptitude is harder to fake, and it shows only under pressure, in committee rooms, in budget defense sessions, in the give and take of coalition building that every functioning legislature demands.

Ask a simple question of every aspirant seeking your vote in 2027. Has this person ever sat where laws are made? Has this person ever carried the weight of moving a bill from proposal to passage? Has this person ever had to defend a budget line before skeptical colleagues, or has their entire political life been confined to press statements and campaign promises?

By this measure, the field narrows again, and it narrows to the same name.

WHY EXPERIENCE AT THE STATE LEVEL TRANSLATES UPWARD

Some will argue that state legislative experience does not automatically qualify a person for the National Assembly. That argument deserves an honest answer, not a dismissal. The truth is that the mechanics of lawmaking, committee work, budget scrutiny, constituency liaison, coalition negotiation, are the same discipline at a larger scale. A man who has never done this work at all does not suddenly acquire the skill by winning an election. A man who has already done it has a foundation the newcomer simply does not.

THE VERDICT AHEAD

In 2027, Obingwa, Osisioma and Ugwunagbo will not be sending an apprentice to Abuja to learn on the job while the constituency waits. We will be sending a legislator who has already done the work of legislating.

WHY HON. SOLOMON AKPULONU WILL DELIVER: DO NOT PANIC ABOUT THE PARTY

One of the most interesting contradictions in politics is how easily people can become attached to a party symbol while forgetting the individual behind the ballot.

A political party provides a platform, but representation ultimately depends on the person entrusted with the mandate.

That is why the conversation about Hon. Barr. Solomon C. Akpulonu should go beyond party colours, slogans and affiliations. The more important question is simple: Who is the man, what does he understand, and what can he bring to the table?

Hon. Solomon Akpulonu is not a stranger to the political landscape of Obingwa and Abia State. He has built relationships at the grassroots, participated actively in legislative affairs and remained connected to the realities confronting ordinary citizens.

He understands that representation is not merely about occupying a seat in Abuja. It is about listening to constituents, articulating their needs, attracting meaningful interventions and giving the people a voice where decisions are made.

So, when some people ask, “Which party is he coming from?”, my response is straightforward:

DO NOT PANIC ABOUT THE PARTY.

A political platform is a vehicle for pursuing public responsibility. The more fundamental consideration is the person behind the wheel. A vehicle may carry a particular colour or emblem, but its destination depends greatly on the person steering it.

This is where capacity, experience, accessibility and character become important.

Politics should not reduce our people to permanent followers of logos. Democracy gives citizens the opportunity to examine individuals, their records, their understanding of public service and the ideas they bring to the table.

Party loyalty is legitimate. Political preferences are legitimate. But so is asking difficult questions.

What has the candidate done?
What does he understand?
What can he realistically achieve?
Can he represent the interests of Obingwa, Osisioma and Ugwunagbo with competence and courage?

These are questions worth discussing.

Hon. Solomon Akpulonu brings legislative experience, grassroots familiarity and an understanding of the socioeconomic realities of our people. His supporters believe these qualities position him to provide purposeful representation and meaningful advocacy for the constituency.

Therefore, this conversation should not be reduced to party versus party.

Let us discuss capacity versus capacity, record versus record, ideas versus ideas and representation versus representation.

If anyone believes another candidate has a stronger record, better ideas or greater capacity, let the facts come to the table. Let us have the conversation respectfully and allow the people to examine the evidence.

Because at the end of the day, the colour of a political vehicle cannot substitute for the quality of the person driving it.

For Obingwa, Osisioma and Ugwunagbo, the real issue is representation that understands the constituency, engages its people and pursues opportunities that can improve lives.

Do not panic about the party. Examine the man. Examine the record. Examine the capacity.

The time has come for a conversation beyond political symbols.

LAWMAKING IS A CRAFT, NOT AN EXPERIMENT

Ndi Obingwa, Osisioma and Ugwunagbo, the coming election poses a sober question: who among those seeking our mandate has truly been prepared for the demands of lawmaking? Sentiment cannot draft a bill, and slogans cannot defend a budget on the floor of a chamber. Only preparation can.

Consider the field. According to the Councillor of Ward 5, the APC nominee has never served in any capacity, not even as a councillor, let alone in a House of Assembly. Such a person cannot be expected to master parliamentary procedure overnight in Abuja. The NDC contestant presents a similar profile. The Labour Party flagbearer arrives with the same gap, and the ZLP and ADC standard bearers share it. Enthusiasm is admirable, yet the National Assembly is no classroom for beginners, and our people cannot afford to finance an apprenticeship.

Our recent past offers a costly lesson. Hon. Munachim Alozie, who won the seat in 2023 on the Labour Party platform, has left many constituents deeply dissatisfied with his showing. Where are the bills, the motions and the visible presence in our communities? Where are the dividends promised at campaign time? A mandate is a sacred trust, and when a trust is squandered, prudent people decline to renew it.

Against this backdrop stands one man whose record answers every question. Hon. Solomon Akpulonu currently represents the good people of Obingwa East State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, and he once served as its Majority Leader. Commanding a majority demands negotiation, mastery of procedure and the confidence of colleagues. No orientation programme can manufacture such qualities. He is also a legal practitioner, trained to scrutinise statutes, interrogate policy and defend the rights of citizens.

Equity, fairness and justice strengthen his case further. A constituency keeps faith with itself when it honours rotation, and the baton now rightly belongs to Obingwa. Capacity, sea*oned judgment and fairness seldom converge in a single aspirant. In Hon. Solomon Akpulonu, they do.

My people, let us choose readiness over rhetoric. Let us send him to the Green Chamber in 2027.
