CATS, the COMMERCIAL ADVANCEMENT TRAINING SCHEME, is a 2-year business administration knowledge and skills development programme in Namibia. Adapted from the German Dual System, it combines both theoretical learning and practical experience within the workplace. The CATS programme is locally highly commended and its certificate is recognized by the European Union through the German Chamber of Comm
erce and Industry. Our training course is based on an employment contract for a period of two years. Within this period, the students are trained in two ways, practically and theoretically. Mondays to Thursdays, the candidate will receive PRACTICAL TRAINING by rotating through the different functions of the participating private/public company in order to gain relevant experience in various departments. Companies that already support CATS are African Business Investments, African Marketing, Agra, Cymot, Maersk Namibia, DHL-Express, Namibian Engineering Corporation, Pupkewitz, TransNamib Holdings, Transworld Cargo and many more. On the THEORETICAL EDUCATION part, students will be educated in compulsory subjects offered at the Polytechnic of Namibia. The CATS curriculum consists of Business Economics, Sales & Marketing, Practical Accounting, Practical Costing, Bookkeeping, Commercial Arithmetics, Economics, Commercial Law, Logistics & Transport, Basic Computer Skills, Life and Study Skills as well as practical projects. The courses take place on Fridays and Saturday mornings. Our Students are currently working in Windhoek and Walvis Bay. After successfully completing the programme, graduates will be awarded a certification of competency which is accepted and recognized by the European Union through the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
