This issue is all about the incredible Desert Lions — their adventures, challenges, and how they survive in the Namib!
Packed with fun stories and fascinating facts, it’s both exciting and educational.

The loss of Petra leaves a space that’s impossible to fill, but we’ve made a promise — PAKO will go on.

Pako has been generously gifted to Have a Heart Namibia, and we are honoured to to carry it forward.

We will continue Petra’s mission, ensuring that the spirit of PAKO stays alive and grows in honor of her vision. We remain committed to the values Petra held dear, and to the children, animals, and wild places she cared so deeply about.

While we take a few months to find our feet and ensure we do justice to Petra's legacy, we warmly welcome any messages or queries in the meantime.

A Tribute to Petra – The Heart Behind PAKO

It is with deep sadness that we have to share the news that our beloved Petra has passed away.

Petra was more than just the founder of PAKO Kids Magazine – she was its heart and soul. Her passion for children, nature, animals, and education was the driving force behind every page, every project, and every smile she brought to young faces across Namibia.

But Petra’s love extended far beyond people – she was also a passionate advocate for animals and nature. Through PAKO, she worked tirelessly to inspire a deep respect for Namibia’s incredible wildlife and natural beauty. Her dream was that future generations would grow up with the same love and passion for protecting this land and all the creatures who call it home.

Through her work, Petra gave a voice to children and to nature and animals alike, creating a space where imagination, learning, and compassion could thrive. Her legacy is one of kindness, creativity, and a profound love for Namibia.

The loss of Petra leaves a space that’s impossible to fill, but we’ve made a promise — PAKO will go on.

Our hearts go out to Petra’s family, friends, and everyone whose life she touched.

Petra, the incredible force behind Pako Kids Magazine, passed away recently—and we are still struggling to comprehend this loss.

Petra wasn’t just a collaborator—she was part of the Have a Heart family. For years, we worked closely together, and this year we proudly launched a Special Edition Pako Magazine dedicated to our work. Her magazines were handed out at every spay day, bringing joy, education, and hope to so many children in the communities we serve.

Her passion for animals and her deep belief in education were a perfect match with our mission. She was generous beyond measure, full of energy, always eager to help— and she never hesitated to go the extra mile for the sake of Namibia’s animals and children.

We’ve lost a crucial part of our network—and more than that, we’ve lost a dear friend.

Petra, thank you for everything. You will be missed in more ways than we can express.
