Films on Campus 2026 | Cinémathèque Afrique

The Film on Campus Festival returns for its 2026 edition with two days of free screenings celebrating the richness and diversity of African cinema.

Taking place at the University of Namibia - Main Campus as part of the university’s Cultural Festival. The films lineup is designed especially for students, while remaining open to all film lovers.

Audiences will have the opportunity to discover a curated selection of contemporary African films, presented in African languages with English subtitles, offering compelling stories, diverse perspectives and emerging voices from across the continent.

The festival is organised by the French Language Department of UNAM in partnership with the Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre (FNCC), with Institut Français Afrique du Sud and IF Cinéma.

Dates: 24 & 25 September

French Documentaries Season

FNCC presents the latest edition of its Les Rendez-vous Cinéma programme. The four-week film series explores the powerful relationship between literature and cinema through a selection of French classics adapted from celebrated novels, theatre and fairy tales.

MOVEMENT – Dance Convo Session at FNCC

As part of the Movement International Dance Festival, we recently hosted a Dance Convo Session at the FNCC, bringing together dance creatives from different backgrounds and contexts.

The conversation featured Nahilongweshipwe Mushaandja from UNAM (Namibia), Jérôme Brabant from L’Octogonale (Réunion Island/ France), Nadjani Bullin from Réunion Island and Philippe Talavera (OYO).

The conversation gave each artist a chance to speak about their work, experiences and the different spaces they have navigated as dance practitioners.

It was a great evening of honest conversation and getting to know more about the people behind the work.

A woman developing a video game about World War II embarks on a philosophical journey through memory, trauma, and the ways digital media reconstruct history.

Through experimental storytelling and virtual memory, the film explores how technology reshapes our relationship with history, identity, and imagination.

The MOVEMENT Dance Seminar concluded today, it brought together partners, practitioners and stakeholders from Namibia’s dance and wider cultural sector for three days of reflections and practical discussions on the development of dance in Namibia.

Officially opened by the Ambassador of France to Namibia H.E Cécile Vigneau, with the presence of the Director of the Arts of MEIYSAC - M’Kariko Amagulu, the seminar explored the role of dance within the creative and cultural industries, while drawing on French experiences and examining the realities, opportunities and needs of Namibia’s dance sector.

Across the three days, discussions focused on dance infrastructure, fundraising, festival development, partnerships, audience development and sustainable ways of strengthening the sector beyond Windhoek.

The seminar also looked towards the future, with partners working together on ideas for a 2027 dance festival or season, a roadmap for the development of the sector, stronger networks and new partnerships both locally and internationally.

The programme brought together voices and expertise from Namibia and France, including the French Ministry of Culture, CNDC La Réunion, COTA, FNCC, National Theatre of Namibia, Equipped Dance Academy, Club 3.2.1, University of Namibia, OYO Dance Troupe and partners across Namibia’s cultural sector.

The three-day seminar concluded with the presentation of key outcomes, ideas, commitments and perspectives, marking an important step towards continued collaboration and the strengthening of Namibia’s dance ecosystem.
