After productive meetings with our valued government partners, the EduVentures team officially began visiting schools across the Kavango East Region as part of the SODI! IKU-FISH Project.

Over four days, we visited eight schools from Rundu to Divundu, introducing the project to school management, teachers, and learners. During these visits, we explained the project's objectives, the school selection process, and the opportunities available for both schools and learners to participate.

Our goal is to identify three schools that will take part in an exciting environmental education programme in September 2026. In this programme, learners will explore sustainable fisheries, conservation, and the importance of protecting our river ecosystems.

We were encouraged by the enthusiasm, curiosity, and warm welcome we received at every school.

🌿 Our exciting journey continues! 🌿

As part of our stakeholder engagement for the SODI! IKU-FISH Project, the EduVentures team had the pleasure of meeting with officials from the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism (MEFT) in Rundu, Kavango East Region.

We were warmly received by the Deputy Director, Mr. Apollinaris Kannyinga, the Chief Warden, Mr. Karl Ndumba (Environmental Education and Community-Based Natural Resource Management), and the Ranger, Ms. Leopoldine Haushiku (Environmental Education).
During the meeting, we introduced the SODI! IKU-FISH Project, outlined its objectives, and discussed the important role that environmental education plays in promoting sustainable fisheries and protecting our natural resources. We also highlighted our partnership with the Namibia Nature Foundation (NNF) and described the upcoming school selection and implementation process.

The discussions were both insightful and encouraging. MEFT reaffirmed its support for the project and recognised the importance of raising environmental awareness among young people. The team also highlighted Mukwe Constituency as an important area for environmental education and encouraged continued collaboration to help communities better understand and protect the Kavango River ecosystem.

We are grateful to MEFT for their warm reception, valuable contributions, and commitment to working alongside EduVentures in empowering the next generation of environmental stewards.
Together, through strong partnerships, we can inspire young people to become champions of conservation and sustainable natural resource management.

We are excited to announce the beginning of another exciting chapter for EduVentures as we continue working towards empowering learners through environmental education and sustainable fisheries awareness.
On the 20th of July 2026, the EduVentures team met with the Deputy Director/Chief: Education Officer, Mr. Asser Haikera Kandere, along with Senior Education Officers Mr. Katoyima (Biology) and Mrs. G. Ndumba (Sciences, Junior Primary) at the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts and Culture (MEIYSAC) in Rundu, Kavango East Region.

The purpose of the meeting was to introduce the SODI! IKU-FISH Project, discuss its objectives, and strengthen collaboration with the Ministry in preparation for the project's implementation.
The Ministry warmly welcomed the initiative and committed to supporting the identification of schools that will participate in the project. We discussed the school selection process, the upcoming educational program, and the importance of engaging schools along the Kavango River to promote environmental stewardship and sustainable fisheries.

We are grateful to MEIYSAC for the warm reception, valuable guidance, and commitment to partnering with EduVentures to create meaningful learning opportunities for young people.

Between 18th May and 2nd June 2026, EduVentures implemented an in-depth community training and mobilisation programme in Opuwo Rural Constituency (Kunene Region), specifically in Otuani village, Gam (Otjozondjupa Region), and Tsumkwe (Otjozondjupa Region). The programme engaged a total of 30 community members (10 from each community), including traditional leaders, women, youth, farmers, and residents, and was delivered through two structured, participatory training days per community.

The approach was grounded in adult learning principles, participatory dialogue, and recognition of indigenous knowledge systems, ensuring that local perspectives are meaningfully integrated into broader biodiversity governance discussions.

From May 4th to May 8th, 2026, the Schools Biodiversity Awareness Campaigns were successfully conducted in the Omatako and Okakarara Constituencies under the project: Strengthening Implementation of Global Biodiversity Targets through Education & Engagement. 🌍📚

Through interactive four (4) learning stations, learners explored biodiversity conservation (Ombombo mobile classroom), climate change (Exhibition), Climate Change 30 seconds game, and the important role of museums in protecting Namibia’s natural heritage. The campaign encouraged teamwork, participation, and youth engagement while supporting Namibia’s National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP) as well as the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF).
