📱 Too much screen time in kids isn’t just about sore eyes or missed sleep — it’s leaving a mark in their blood that could predict future heart disease.

A new study in the Journal of the American Heart Association found that greater recreational screen time in children and teens is linked to higher risks of high blood pressure, insulin resistance, and cholesterol imbalances. Even just one extra hour of screen use per day was tied to measurable changes in health.

Researchers analyzed long-term data from Denmark and discovered a unique "screen-time fingerprint" in blood samples — a metabolic signature associated with future cardiovascular disease. Among adolescents, screen exposure often exceeded six hours daily, raising concerns about silent, early impacts on heart health.

Sleep emerged as a key player. Kids who slept less or went to bed later showed even stronger links between screen time and health risks, highlighting the importance of balancing technology use with rest. Experts stress that parents should model healthy screen habits, limit late-night device use, and prioritize active play.

This research underscores that managing screen time is just as critical for lifelong health as diet and exercise.

A STARTLING UPDATE ON YESTERDAY'S EXPOSURE OF ONLINE PREDATORS

In a startling update after yesterday's horrific exposure of online predators being exposed on various WhatsApp Channels and Instagram platforms, today brought a new level of horror: the person who has been soliciting and then exposing the nudes and the private information of our children (he attached the children's names, grades, school to all the images and videos he shared, he made up lies about them having HIV or STD's), is indifferent to their hurt.

He is also overtly threatening to return and expose them again!

The message is clear - he has no remorse, no sense of guilt and worse, believes that the children deserve this kind of exposure for making a mistake online. The tone smacks of a person who despises girls/women and has a strong INCEL CULTURE element to it.

Often our children hear our imploring them to be safe online as white noise, nagging and a bit over the top. This may shift some of that thinking.

If ever there was a day to chat to your children, today is it. Show them the quote below, let them read it, so that they can really see and understand how little these predators care about their wellbeing.

🚨 CHILDREN EXPOSED ONLINE — HIGH COURT ORDERS META TO SHUT DOWN EXPLICIT ACCOUNTS. META FAILS TO ACT. 🚨

Late Monday evening, the Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg issued an urgent court order compelling Meta (the parent company of Instagram and WhatsApp) to shut down several anonymous accounts and channels that were distributing graphic child po*******hy involving South African school children — some as young as primary school age.

The court also ordered Meta to hand over the details of the perpetrators behind these platforms by Tuesday at noon — but by early Tuesday afternoon, Meta had not complied with any of the deadlines.

📌 The accounts were not just sharing illegal explicit content, but also publishing:
• Children’s names, grades, and schools
• Cruel and false claims about their s*xual behaviour
• Even claims about their HIV status

This horrifying situation came to light when The Digital Law Company (DLC), led by social media law expert Emma Sadleir Berkowitz, received reports from victims and schools in Pretoria and Centurion about disturbing content being shared on Instagram and WhatsApp “community channels”.

🧑‍⚖️ In her affidavit, Sadleir described the accounts as:

“A mass distribution system for pornographic and defamatory content involving minors… shared anonymously with large, unknown audiences.”

🚨 One WhatsApp channel had over 11,000 followers and was actively threatening to publish more explicit material and private information about children at 8PM Monday.
With no time to spare, DLC went to court on an urgent basis — the matter was unopposed, and the court ruled decisively in their favour.

Yet, Meta has still not removed the channels or shared the identities of the criminals behind them.

🔴 According to Sadleir, girls depicted in these images are now on su***de watch.
The longer the content remains online, the more irreparable harm is done.

📢 Why this matters:
• These children are being traumatised, humiliated, and endangered
• The content is being shared rapidly, with new accounts popping up after deletions
• Legal action can only proceed if the perpetrator is identified — and that depends on Meta’s cooperation

This is not just about platform policy — it’s about criminal accountability and child protection

✅ What you can do:
• Follow for updates and resources
• Report any harmful content to SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) units
• Speak to children about digital safety and reporting online abuse
• Demand accountability from big tech when it comes to protecting vulnerable users

📣 Children’s lives and mental health are at stake. Justice delayed is justice denied.

💥 What Just Happened Today Online — And What You Need to Do About It?!!

Yesterday, a ground-breaking urgent court order was granted against Meta yesterday, with thanks (and huge Kudos) to our friends at the Digital Law Company.

Why?

Because multiple anonymous WhatsApp channels were being used to share explicit “leaks” — including s*x tapes and nudes of minors, many of which were solicited via Instagram and spread via WhatsApp.

Some of the posts claimed kids had STDs, HIV, or racked up so-called "body counts."

The damage? Devastating.

Children were named and shamed
Parents reported it in multiple schools.

Two attempted su***des have been linked to the exposure

🧑‍⚖️ The court has now ordered Meta to:
✅ Delete the WhatsApp and Instagram accounts
✅ Disclose the identity of the person behind the leaks

A landmark moment for digital justice.

But also a brutal reminder: this is the world our kids are online in — whether we like it or not.

So What Now, as a Parent?

1️⃣ Check your child’s WhatsApp
Seriously. Look at what groups they’re in. Ask what “channels” they follow. See what’s being shared. If you’re met with resistance — that’s a flag in itself.

To do this, open Whatsapp, Click “Updates” Icon in the bottom left hand corner. There you will find the “Channels” your child is following - open them up to see the content that may be hiding in plain sight. It could be pornographic, it could be solicitous, it just be unpleasantly vulgar or threatening. Hopefully it is none of the above, but check you must.

2️⃣ Talk about strangers online
This isn’t just about creepy DMs. It’s about what can happen when someone earns your child’s trust… and then turns it into currency.

📣 Not every online stranger is a “predator.” Some are classmates. Some are ex-friends. Some are influencers pretending to be 14. Your child needs to know how to spot the difference — and what to do when something feels off.

You’ve got more power than you think.

This isn’t about spying. It’s about staying connected, having hard conversations, and showing your child that they don’t have to navigate this alone.

You’ve got this 💪
