I find immense joy in creating positive and meaningful impacts on others' lives. In 2019, during my Master's degree applications, I experienced numerous sleepless nights while submitting countless applications. However, this arduous process taught me valuable lessons and allowed me to gain expertise in navigating application procedures and adhering to guidelines.

Recently, I contemplated a way to express my gratitude to those who supported me in my journey. Recognizing that my success is attributed to the belief others had in me, I decided to give back by mentoring and guiding two exceptional young students. Both of them aspired to study abroad, but they lacked guidance on where to begin. Taking on a leadership role, I mentored them to help pave their path towards their desired destinations and fulfill their dreams.

I am delighted to announce that both of these students have been awarded scholarships and are set to commence their studies in the upcoming September/October intake. Congratulations to both of you; your accomplishments are a testament to your potential, and I had faith in your abilities from the start. I understand the challenges you faced during this journey—endless phone calls and travels to complete necessary documentation—but your determination has brought us to this successful outcome.

MAURITIUS-AFRICAN SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME: 2023

The Government of the Republic of Mauritius is offering scholarships to deserving students who are resident citizens of member states of the African Union or African Commonwealth countries for full-time, on-campus undergraduate (diploma/degree) and postgraduate (MPhil/PhD) programmes tenable in public Higher Education Institutions (HEls) in Mauritius.

1. CATEGORIES OF SCHOLARSHIPS ON OFFER
1.1. Undergraduate
1.2. Postgraduate

2. REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP
2.1 For undergraduate programmes, applicants should be above 18 years of age and should not have reached their 26th birthday by 01 January 2024.
2.2 For PhD programmes, applicants should not have reached 40 years by 01 January 2024.

2.3 Applicants must have already applied for a full-time on-campus programme (Diploma, Degree, MPhil or PhD) at a public Higher Education Institution in Mauritius (listed in Section 8 in the appropriate Guidelines for Applicants) for the academic year starting in 2023.

2.4 The scholarship will be for a maximum duration as indicated in the table below or the minimur course duration whichever is lesser.

UPDATES TO THE GERMAN IMMIGRATION LAW

LOOSENING OF BLUE CARD RULES
* The salary thresholds required for people to be eligible for a Blue Card visa will be lowered
* The rules for IT professionals will be relaxed, so people with career experience can be accepted for a Blue Card without a university degree

NEW JOBSEEKER VISA
* A 'Chancenkarte' or 'Opportunity Card' will be introduced for people who want to look for a job in Germany for up to one year
* These permits will be distributed to people with at least two years of higher education who earn enough points in the categories of age, connection to Germany, work experience and language skills

RECOGNITION OF FOREIGN QUALIFICATIONS
* Skilled workers will be able to immigrate, even if their professional qualification has not been formally recognised beforehand.
Prerequisites include an employment contract in Germany and at least two years of professional experience

UPDATES FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
* The draft law sets out plans to relax the rules around working as a student. This means international students may be able to work more hours alongside their degree

* More flexibility to do other types of training alongside formal qualifications, for example a language course alongside studies.
