Life skills news:

Visit to the Naval Base Captain (Navy) P N Sacharia in Walvisbay.

Learners from our school accompanied by Ms Adams, had a memorable day out at the Maritime Navy Base last week. The highlight of the visit was boarding the NS Brukkaros, one of the Namibian Navy’s military vessels and a submarine chaser.

As soon as we arrived, naval officers welcomed us and gave a tour of the base. We learned about the important role the navy plays in protecting Namibia’s coastline, supporting search and rescue, and keeping our waters safe.

The learners got to explore the deck, see the control room, and learn how the crew operates the radar and communication systems. Officers explained how a submarine chaser works, the equipment used to detect vessels, and what daily life is like at sea.

It was not just exciting, it was educational. Many learners asked questions about careers in the navy, training, and discipline required to serve. The visit gave us a new appreciation for the men and women who serve our country.

By the end of the day, we left with more knowledge and pride.
