True leadership isn't just about delegating tasks and making decisions; it's fundamentally about building and nurturing relationships. Leaders who prioritize relationships create a culture of trust, collaboration, and mutual respect. When team members feel valued and understood, they are more likely to be engaged and committed to the organization's goals.

Strong relationships also allow leaders to understand their team members' strengths, weaknesses, and motivations. This understanding enables leaders to provide the right support and opportunities for growth, creating a more cohesive and high-performing team.

Additionally, leaders who emphasize relationships can navigate conflicts more effectively, as mutual respect and trust make it easier to resolve differences constructively. Ultimately, relational leadership creates a positive and productive work environment where everyone can thrive.

What do you think?

This is for all my fellow trainers, facilitators, coaches and anyone in training and development.

Attached is the latest article of mine published in the Republikein and Sun in Namibia which addresses the huge challenge we face when trying to measure the ROI (Return on Investment) of especially corporate training.

I would like to hear from you all whether you think these metrics are effective enough or should we consider other alternative ways of measuring the effectiveness of training.

Do you believe you're a good leader because:
• you are in control of all situations?
• you ensure the policies and protocols are constantly enforced?
• you are informed about every move made in your team, so
you stay in control?
• your decisions are the final decisions, and nobody implements
any action unless you say so?
• if the team member does not follow the line, you simply get
rid of them by working them out of the team?
• you believe you should have all the power and authority?

Well guess what, you’re not a leader!!!!

You’re a narcissistic psychopathic micro-manager!!!

The only way you can be a leader is to build relationships – leaders do not instruct and enforce the way managers do, no; leaders inspire and empower.

To be a leader you have to grow the people in the team, not just your favourite ones, all of them.

Your team may perform well for a period of time, but eventually the team will fall apart at the seams.

Build relationships not puppets.

I have learnt to always be ready for anything.

Today I attended the World Skills Africa 2022 conference and because one of the original panelists had not shown up I was approached 10 minutes prior to the panel discussion to be one of the panelists.
