Every publication has a purpose.

Over time, I’ve realised that Cerina Life isn’t simply a place where I write about health.

It’s where I explore what it means to live well.

Sometimes that conversation begins with biology.

Sometimes it begins with a walk through the garden.

Sometimes it begins with a difficult season, a new idea, or an ordinary week that quietly changes the way I see the world.

Different starting points.

The same conversation.

Thank you for being part of it.

This post will add nothing to your life, but since everything is anyway now somewhere on a cloud connected, and they anyway have access to it whether I post it or not, it gets added to the album. And since I am reading I am consciously teaching my AI kids kindness and gratitude and the wonders of our beautiful world. 😉

This was not a special week. It was hard work, late nights, eating almost only leftovers.
BUT,

I caught up with new friends, I worked hard and feel really good about our team and the next 6 months.
I had fish&chips in the sun.
There were many beautiful sunsets and sun rises.
I had warm clothes, warm water, and a warm bed.
I took the dogs for long lekker walks, I read, I wrote, I was supported.
I had difficult conversations which went well. I am building that muscle.

I have a paid-off car to take me places in this country which doesn’t have public transport.
I learned from Gen-Z how they process emotions and how they will arrange for a beggar to come work in their garden Saturday so that they earn the money they want to give them. I smily humbled…

I saw flowers
in winter
in the desert,
and a pool of water!!!

One of my besties had a baby boy and I know he is going to play a big role in his lifetime; he is solid- from birth.

I am inspired by how deep a relationship with God can go, I am grateful for my coaches for guiding me.
I am spending a few days with my mom, while holding a dear friend in my heart standing next to her mother’s grave.

I am blessed. I am safe. I am held.

This was a great week.

This is one of the most personal things I’ve written.

Not because I shared something deeply private.
But because, for the first time, I found words for something I’ve been feeling for years.

For a long time, I thought my work looked scattered. Food safety.
Entrepreneurship.
Mushrooms.
Health.
Retreats.
Writing.
AI.

Then one day I realised I hadn’t been building different things at all.
I’d been expressing the same philosophy through different mediums.

This carousel shares a few pages from this week’s newsletter. I hope that, somewhere in these words, you might recognise a thread in your own life too.

I keep falling in love.
Over and over again.

I’m in love with colours, and with my eyes! And the fact that they can see those beautiful colours!
I’m in love with simple lines, and the extravagant lady with her grey hair, red glasses and teal socks in high heels. Mesmerising

I’m in love with the hippo enjoying his swim.
With my arm as it heals; I’m so proud of you.

I’m in love with my sisters, and the incredible women they are.
I fall in love over and over again with my friends… they make me feel safe, I am in awe of them.

I fall in love with my mind, and my soul, for staying curious, for being brave, for keeping learning and for always trying their best.

I am in love with my dogs,
And I cannot keep my eyes of off my husband.

I am in love with life. It is a rollercoaster, and often a boat out in the ocean.
But it is kind
It shows me beauty -
in things,
in people!,
in experiences,
in nature,
and in those 5D touch points.

Thank you, Life.
Thank you, God, for this life.
Thank you, People, for making it so special.

Reading my latest newsletter. It’s 5 minutes, so warning - no dopamine kick. But if you listen the whole way through, thanks; I hop you enjoyed. 😉🌈🩷

There are some losses we expect.
And then there are the ones that quietly arrive without anyone preparing us for them.

Over the past few months, I’ve found myself thinking about grief in a different way.

Not only the grief that follows the loss of a person, but the grief that can accompany a changing career, a shifting identity, a relationship, a dream, or a season of life coming to an end.

It made me wonder whether what many women experience between 37 and 45 isn’t just “change.”

Perhaps it’s also a form of grief.

Not because something has gone wrong. But because this season often asks us to let go of who we were while we are still discovering who we’re becoming.

This carousel is a small reflection from my latest essay, The Things We Don’t Expect to Mourn.

If you’ve ever felt a little lost during a season of transition, I hope it reminds you that your experience has a name, and that you don’t have to navigate it alone.

There are seasons of life that quietly reshape us.

Sometimes all we need is language for what we’re experiencing.

Perimenopause

One of the “things” I love most about our home, is the mix… of manly and feminine, the soft and the hard, the rock(er) and the flower. Never just one. Always swaying together 🤍💜

Thanks for this lovely capture Zane Shaughan Volker

I’d lie if I say that “calories in, calories out”, didn’t apply, and worked!, for me for a period of my life. Tracking calories and macros helped me get over the biggest challenges of my eating disorder, it taught me about portion sizes and how food actually fuels the body.

But one of the biggest shifts in my thinking around health has been moving away from simplistic explanations.

“Calories in, calories out” is not wrong.
It’s just incomplete.

The body is influenced by far more than arithmetic. Hormones, sleep, stress, muscle mass, insulin sensitivity, recovery, and nutrition all shape how we produce and use energy.

This is particularly relevant for women navigating perimenopause, when several of these systems are changing simultaneously.

The goal isn’t to ignore calories.
The goal is to see the bigger picture.
What’s your goal at the moment? 😉

If you’re curious about your metabolism when you age, I explored it in my latest article.

’sHealth Hormones

I’ve noticed this about myself. The nights I tell myself: “Just one more email.” are often the same nights I struggle to switch off.
Modern life doesn’t simply expose us to more light.
It exposes us to more stimulation.

And the brain notices. Sleep begins long before we close our eyes. 😉

Sleep well tonight 😉😴
