Celebrating Excellence at Okakarara VTC!
After rigorous trials featuring trainee netball players from various tertiary institutions, and numerous trips to the capital, two of our exceptional Okakarara VTC netball players have earned their place in the final Tertiary Institutes Sports Association of Namibia (TISAN) Team!
They will proudly represent Namibia at the Confederation of Universities and Colleges Sports Association (CUCSA) Games, set to take place in Gaborone, Botswana, from 28 June to 05 July 2026.
This outstanding achievement is not only a win for Okakarara VTC, but also a proud moment for the entire Otjozondjupa Region and the town of Okakarara. It speaks volumes about the dedication, hard work, and resilience of our athletes, supported by committed coaches and strong institutional backing.
Congratulations to our two stars! Go and raise the Namibian flag high!

Strengthening Partnerships for Sustainable Skills Development
Okakarara Vocational Training Centre (VTC) management recently held a productive working dinner meeting on Wednesday in Swakopmund with the Municipality’s Waste Management Division, focusing on the CircuWaste Training Programme in Namibia.
This engagement forms part of the Centre’s ongoing partnership initiatives, with Okakarara VTC being identified by the Municipality as a key partner in this impactful project. Funded by the European Union, the programme is being piloted across several African countries, including Angola, São Tomé, Ghana, and Namibia.
Through this collaboration, the Centre will gain access to valuable platforms within the network, creating opportunities for growth, innovation, and skills development.
The Centre Manager encouraged both parties to take the lead in championing this initiative for the benefit of communities and industries alike.
Okakarara VTC will play a pivotal role in piloting the training programme, with multiple stakeholders already lined up for job attachment opportunities and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). This initiative reflects the Centre’s commitment to thinking outside the box and driving meaningful change through skills development.
This project is expected to contribute positively to the economy, with far-reaching ripple effects across various sectors.
The engagement concluded with a networking dinner for all stakeholders, reinforcing the spirit of collaboration and shared purpose.

Strategic Partnership for Skills Development
On 03 June 2026, Okakarara Vocational Training Centre (OVTC) held a productive meeting with the Management of Rössing Uranium on the sidelines of the Annual Business Plan Meeting in Swakopmund.
The engagement focused on strengthening collaboration, particularly in expanding job attachment opportunities for our trainees and enhancing industry exposure for OVTC staff. Key areas of interest were identified, highlighting the importance of meeting industry demands.
The discussions were fruitful and reaffirmed OVTC’s commitment to equipping the Namibian child with relevant skills for the local labour market.

Strengthening TVET Through Collaboration
The management, section heads, and supervisors of Okakarara Vocational Training Centre joined forces with their counterparts from Khorixas, Keetmanshoop, and Gobabis VTCs for a strategic planning session in Swakopmund.
During this productive week-long engagement, the teams are developing their Annual Business Plans while also laying the foundation for an exciting new initiative, the Central TVET Hub.
This collaborative hub aims to:
- Promote resource sharing
- Strengthen partnerships across centres
- Enhance programs that positively impact the Namibian child
Together, we are building a more connected, efficient, and future-focused TVET system for Namibia.
