Celebrate Green Fins Day with Gozo Azul on Saturday, 17 October 2026! 🤿

Join us for a Dive Against Debris and a beach cleanup as we come together to care for our reefs and coastline. Every piece of rubbish we remove is one less left in the ocean.

When you’re trying to give the turtle space… but the turtle has other plans…🐢👀

This inquisitive old resident loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta) clearly felt like being the star of the show today.

With that weathered face and prehistoric presence, it’s hard not to wonder what this turtle has seen over the years…💭

A few things that make loggerheads extraordinary:

• They can live for 80 years or more.
• Loggerhead turtles use their powerful jaws to crush hard-shelled prey such as crabs, clams and sea snails.
• Females return to the same area where they once hatched to lay their own eggs, decades later…
• Ponta do Ouro is a very important nesting ground for these turtles 🇲🇿

Beauty, brains and apparently… boxing skills 🐙🥊

The common octopus (Octopus vulgaris) can change its colour and skin texture in seconds, solve problems and explore the reef with eight remarkably sensitive arms. But wait for the perfectly timed punch! Octopuses sometimes strike fish to protect their space, defend food or keep an overly curious neighbour in line 👀

Life beneath the surface is never boring in Ponta do Ouro 🇲🇿
