A beautiful new chapter for JCM Primary School.

This week we are so excited to welcome our children into our amazing new location — a space designed for learning, connection, movement, and joy.

With light-filled classrooms, generous open areas, and abundant outdoor play spaces, our new campus gives children the freedom to explore, create, collaborate, and thrive.

At JCM, we believe that environment matters. Children learn best when they feel inspired, safe, connected, and free to wonder. Our new Primary School space reflects this belief in every corner — from bright rooms filled with possibility to outdoor areas where imaginations can run wild. We are so excited for this new chapter

We cannot wait to see the learning, friendships, discoveries, and memories that will grow here.

What has struck me most about the recent visit of Princess Kate to Reggio Emilia is not simply the significance of the visit itself, but what Reggio Emilia represents to educators, families, and communities around the world.

Reggio Emilia is far more than an educational approach. It is a philosophy born from hope, resilience, and a belief in humanity after a time of conflict and division. Following the war, the people of Reggio Emilia came together to ask an incredibly important question: What kind of world do we want to create for our children?

Their answer was education.

An education built on respect for children, on listening deeply to their ideas, on creativity, collaboration, relationships, and democratic participation. An education that sees children not as empty vessels to be filled, but as capable, intelligent, curious human beings with voices that matter.

At JCM, this is something we reflect on often.

In a world that can sometimes feel increasingly fast, divided, and disconnected, early childhood education becomes more important than ever. The environments we create for children, the way we speak to them, the opportunities we give them to play, question, collaborate, create, and belong — all of these shape the kind of society we are building for the future.

Schools are not simply places where academic content is delivered. They are communities where children begin to understand themselves, others, and the world around them. They are places where empathy, responsibility, confidence, and citizenship are nurtured.

If we truly want to build a more compassionate, thoughtful, and connected world, then early childhood education cannot sit on the sidelines of public conversation. It must remain at the very centre of it.

Perhaps the most important question we can continue asking ourselves is:
What kind of culture are we creating for our children today?

A lovely way to end our week. Learning new skills in our upper primary. At JCM, we believe children need more than just academics to thrive in the future.

Learning practical life skills like cooking, problem solving, and confidently navigating electronic platforms helps children build independence, responsibility, creativity, and adaptability.

The future belongs to young people who can think, create, communicate, and take care of themselves — and we love giving our students opportunities to grow these important real-world skills every day.

Our Upper Primary students recently returned from an unforgettable trip to the bush—and what an experience it was!

Surrounded by the beauty of nature, our students stepped out of their comfort zones and into a world of exploration, adventure, and connection. From guided bush walks, drives and wildlife spotting to team-building challenges and evenings by the fire, under the stars, every moment was an opportunity to grow.

Trips like these are about so much more than just travel. They build resilience, independence, and confidence. They strengthen friendships, deepen connections with teachers, and foster a real appreciation for the natural world.

We are so proud of how our students embraced every challenge, supported one another, and represented our school with such positivity and maturity.

It truly takes a community to raise a child—and experiences like this remind us just how powerful that community can be.

💙 Celebrating Father’s Day at JCM 💙

Today across JCM, our campus’ were filled with laughter, connection, and unforgettable moments as we celebrated the incredible fathers and father figures in our children’s lives.

At JCM, we believe that strong partnerships between home and school are at the heart of a child’s growth. Days like today remind us of the power of connection, presence, and community.

To all our amazing dads — thank you for showing up, for being part of these moments, and for the love and support you give every day. 💙

Last week was filled with energy and learning in the Lower Primary 🌦️✨

Our students explored new sounds and words across English and Portuguese, built confidence in reading and writing, and strengthened their maths skills - from counting and comparing to telling the time.

They also kicked off an exciting new inquiry into how people work together to build strong communities, with thoughtful discussions around rules, teamwork, and caring for one another💛.

From the classroom to the outdoors, teamwork, communication, and joy were at the heart of it all - rain or shine!

A big thank you to our parents for your continued support, especially those who joined our Literacy Program 🙌!
