Life in the Buffalo Herd is full of moments that inspire, connect, and celebrate.
From welcoming AISM alum and Olympic swimmer Matthew to inspire our scholar-athletes, to heartfelt Primary and Secondary buddy reading sessions, to celebrating wins, sportsmanship, and Buffalo Spirit Awards across three exciting ISSEA competitions. Add to that our Grade 2 Learning Exhibition, the honor of hosting the 10th MaMUN, and welcoming Dr. Catherine Sozi alongside over 100 delegates from seven different schools — and it’s clear just how vibrant life is at The Home of the Buffalos.
So proud of our community, our learners, and every moment that brings us together. 🌍

Every Note Makes a Difference! 🎶
On 20 November, our campus hosted a special charity concert created and led by one of our Grade 11 students as part of her CAS project. The evening brought together families, friends, teachers, and students from across Maputo, all united behind one purpose: raising funds for music scholarships at MUSIARTE, a local music conservatory.
Every piece in the concert was chosen to be uplifting, hopeful, and empowering, and performers from neighboring schools joined in to make the night a true community celebration. More than 200 people filled the venue, turning the event into something far bigger than she ever imagined.
Her initial hope was to fund two scholarships but thanks to the generosity of everyone who attended, donated, and performed, the concert raised enough to support six young musicians whose journeys are just beginning.
To everyone who supported the event in any way: thank you. A massive congratulations goes to our Grade 11 student, Leonor, you made us proud. 🩶

Our Grade 3 learners shared their discoveries from the How We Express Ourselves Unit of Inquiry, exploring how words, movement, and art can communicate powerful ideas and inspire change — from Capoeira to Banksy.
☕️ High School Parent Coffee Morning
Our High School parents joined us on campus for a special coffee morning, made even more memorable by beautiful performances from our Band and Choir students. As one parent shared: “What a wonderful tea/coffee morning! I truly enjoyed it. Bringing parents together like this was a great idea, and the band and choir performance was absolutely spectacular. I look forward to more moments like this.”

This week was all about celebrating what it truly means to be part of the Buffalo Herd. Our StuCo led a series of fun, engaging activities and initiatives that brought our community together in meaningful ways, from Primary to Secondary.
We wrapped up the week with a student-led whole-school assembly, where our Primary and Secondary buddies had the chance to come together and partake in some activities, showing the Buffalo Spirit in action through collaboration, kindness, and connection.
So what is Buffalo Spirit?
It’s the promise we make to support one another, to choose actions that help every member of our community feel safe, respected, and happy. Just as buffalos in the wild stick together and protect the herd, so too does the AISM community.
Go Buffalos! Have a lovely weekend! 🩶

Leading the Way in Child Protection 🩶
This week, we proudly hosted and led the second Child Rights Advocacy Network (CRAN) meeting, bringing together 25 educators from eight international schools to strengthen child protection across Mozambique.
This initiative, spearheaded by AISM, is helping schools unite under a shared vision of creating safer, more supportive environments for every child.
A huge thank you to Anita and Carla, two specialists in the area, ( | ) for their continued guidance and collaboration. Together, we are building a stronger, safer community for all children.
