TEAM DUNA & ÁGUA
Bom dia! We are Team Duna & Água Mozambique, a group of 4 master students and we are going to do a MultiDisciplinairy Project (MDP) in cooperation with Dunea to help improve the drinking water system in Inhambane, Mozambique. Currently, the water quality of a lot of drinking wells in the area is unknown - they could possibly be contaminated. Unfortunately there is not a lot known about the causes of this contamination. A possible reason for the contamination of the drinking water wells is the subsurface flow from waste sources towards drinking water wells.
We are students from different master tracks from the faculty of CiTG: hydraulic engineering, watermanagement and environmental engineering. We united our different specialisations and travelled on the 12th of November towards Inhambane for 10 weeks. In this period we will conduct surveys about water usage, measure the water quality and build a groundwater model. With our gained knowledge during our studies and the cooperation with the local stakeholders, we hope to contribute in the improvement of the drinking water system in Mozambique.
Team Duna & Agua keeps you updated every Sunday from Inhambane!

Hi, this is Valerie from the beautiful Brabant. In her bachelor civil engineering she did a project focusing on non-revenue water in Suriname. From this experience, she developed a great interest in challenging projects abroad. It was an easy decision for her to continue her masters in Watermanagement. In Mozambique she can combine all these interests and she can’t wait for this next challenge, which is starting now.
Fun fact: Did you know Valerie overpacked her bag the most of the team??!! Guess how much? Even her teddy is packed!
