O nosso lema é: a diversidade enriquece.

✎ The nonprofit organization Nhapupwe is committed to promoting pre-primary education in Mozambique. Our motto is: diversity enriches. In the local language Nhapupwe means butterfly - a symbol that also shows the children that different shapes and colors enrich the world. The pre-school age is a very formative phase. The educational input at this age has a key role in the development of linguistic, cognitive, motor and social skills. We intend to strenghten the children in their development and prepare them for the requirements of school and in later life.Because of malnutrition, over 40% of Mozambican children suffer delays in development. Additionally in rural areas of Mozambique over 90% of children speak a local language with their families and learn the official language Portuguese only when they enter school. Successful school participation under these initial conditions is very difficult. Our goal is to strengthen and enable children in Mozambique through a qualitative pre-school education and to give them the chance of a successful school career and life. The association Nhapupwe was founded in 2006, in Inhambane, as a result of an initiative by dedicated parents and educators. The inclusive pre-school is the main focus of Nhapupwe’s work. Other areas of work include: training, advice and innovation which are closely linked with the pre-school-practice.
