Empowering the next generation of Mozambican leaders to transform their nation

📚Building the Reading Habit Early

Kids in Mozambique are a little more independent than their Western counterparts, so they usually walk to school by themselves and spend much of the rest of the day roaming or playing soccer in the streets with empty bottles marking the goal posts. They don't wait for their parents to take them places, and we are so thrilled that thousands of these free-range kids have chosen to spend many hours of their free time coming to our library, Biblioteca Beireano, all on their own. Most of them don't have any books at home at all, and even their schools never have enough textbooks to go around. The library for them has become a place where they can learn, grow, and discover who they are and who they can become.

Every day, these young readers walk through the doors of our library with curiosity and leave with new ideas, new questions, and a hunger to read more.

We believe that when you invest in a child's love of reading, you invest in a future shaped by wisdom, creativity, and possibility.

Pray with us for the young readers who walk through that door every day. 🙏

Imagine announcing an all-night prayer vigil at your church. How many people do you think would actually show up? 👀

In our area of Mozambique, it was nearly 90%. That level of pure dedication and faith is honestly so powerful and convicting!

The last few months have seen much growth at the Restoring Hope sewing school!

In April alone, our women produced more than 300 handmade items like wallets, bags, tote bags, dresses, skirts, tablecloths, and more. They were challenged when someone asked them to make a large travel duffel bag out of the colorful African fabric, but they rose to the challenge and the client was happy with their beautiful new bag!

We participated in a craft fair and sold many items. We embroidered jerseys for a local team. And one of our daughter schools — led by a graduate who is multiplying what she learned — secured their first contract to sew school uniforms.

Four women who were receiving sewing lessons inside the local prison were released this month, and they don't leave empty-handed. They leave with a skill, a renewed sense of purpose, and the knowledge that their story is not over.
This is what we mean when we talk about transformation from the inside out.

Thank you for praying with us. Thank you for believing this kind of change is possible. It is — and we see it every day.

Pray for the upcoming graduation of our current class, and for new doors to open for our graduates. 🙏

Entrepreneurship isn’t about fitting into a market—it’s about building the space that wasn’t there before.⚒️✨

Jon Reinagel drops truth on what it actually means to build from the ground up: creating something that doesn’t exist yet. It takes a different kind of vision to see the gaps and have the grit to fill them.

We chat about this in our Episode 3 dropping this week!

Last weekend, our city of Beira hosted something remarkable.

The Conference of Women Leaders brought together nearly 200 women — religious leaders from multiple faiths and denominations, members of parliament, pastors, NGO leaders, civil society representatives, government officials, and delegates from several African nations, all gathered here in Beira. The theme was "Faith, Peace, Action and Resilience: Strengthening Female Leadership in Contexts of Conflict and Natural Disasters."

Nora and Flavia from our team participated and represented Equip Mozambique at the conference. They set up a display booth showcasing our capulana products from the sewing school. They were touched when a women's rights leader from the neighboring country of eSwatini visited our booth and was moved by what she saw. She expressed a desire to bring Equip Moz's experience to the women of her country — a door we didn't expect to open.

There were also honest, courageous conversations about trauma and abuse in families, in marriages, in workplaces, and in society. One woman stood up and shared that she had been forced into exploitative situations just to reach her professional position. Her courage in speaking that truth out loud was a reminder of why this work matters.

Addressing trauma is not separate from empowerment. It is the foundation of it.

Pray with us for every woman still carrying wounds in silence. 🙏
