How do you weigh water trapped inside a solid crystal? You burn it out 🔥

This week, AP Chemistry students heated hydrous salts over Bunsen burners to calculate their exact chemical formulas. By taking mass measurements before and after, they found out how to derive a chemical formula straight from the source.

By seeking solutions and driving innovation through hands-on lab work, their understanding of chemicals and compounds went from theoretical to tangible.

🧠🧐 What makes us uniquely human—and how do we protect it in an increasingly digital world?

During Launch Week, our high school students stepped away from screens to design and build physical “Human Anchors”: cardboard prototypes created to strengthen skills like focus, creativity, critical thinking, memory, and real-world problem-solving.

From clay models and engineering blueprints to full-scale construction, testing, refinement, and live demonstrations, students used their hands, minds, and teamwork to create physical, analog tools to protect skills that technology and AI threaten to weaken.
