Call for Applications: UM Global Mobility 2026 – Tropical Immersive Mobility Program in Malang, Indonesia

Greetings from the International, Mobility and Advanced Education Centre (IMAC), Universiti
Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI).
We are pleased to share an exciting international mobility opportunity offered by Universitas
Negeri Malang (UM), Indonesia, under the UM Global Mobility 2026 – Inbound Track
programme, themed:
"Tropical Immersive Mobility Program: Study, Culture & Adventure in Malang, Indonesia"
This programme is designed to provide international students with meaningful academic and
intercultural experiences through:
• Interactive lectures
• Industry visits
• Cultural and tourism exploration
• Community-based projects
• International networking opportunities
Participants will have the opportunity to experience the vibrant educational and cultural
environment of Malang, Indonesia, one of the country& #39;s leading university cities known for its rich culture, scenic landscapes, and dynamic student life.
Programme Benefits
Selected participants will receive:
• Free programme fee
• Accommodation
• Field trips, industry visits, and cultural activities
• Two (2) meals per day

Important Note
Participants are required to bear the cost of their own round-trip airfare and other personal
expenses. Accommodation and programme-related expenses as stated above will be
sponsored by Universitas Negeri Malang.

14 May 2026 – The International, Mobility and Advanced Education Centre (IMAC), UPSI, welcomed a delegation from the Middle East and Arab Center for University Services (MEAC) and Dar AlBer Society, Dubai, UAE, for a discussion on potential collaboration opportunities and strategic academic cooperation.
The discussion served as a platform for both parties to exchange views and explore future collaboration opportunities that may benefit UPSI students and staff. Both parties also shared ideas to support academic development, internationalisation initiatives, and strategic partnerships between the parties.
IMAC, UPSI extends its sincere appreciation and gratitude to MEAC and Dar AlBer Society for their visit and meaningful discussion.

19 May 2026 – The International, Mobility and Advanced Education Centre (IMAC), UPSI, welcomed a delegation from Tashkent State University of Economics (TSUE), Uzbekistan, for an official visit and discussion on potential academic collaboration between both institutions.
The discussion focused on several strategic areas of cooperation, including teacher training initiatives, student practical and industrial training opportunities, as well as student exchange programmes to enhance international academic exposure and cross-cultural learning experiences for students from both universities.
The visit also included the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) exchange ceremony between UPSI and TSUE, marking a significant milestone in strengthening international collaboration and academic partnerships between Malaysia and Uzbekistan. In addition, the delegation was given a campus visit to provide further exposure to UPSI’s academic environment, facilities, and institutional strengths.

14 May 2026 – The International, Mobility and Advanced Education Centre (IMAC), UPSI, welcomed a delegation from Daya Budi Sejahtera (DBS) Sdn. Bhd., represented by Prof. Dr. Chan and Mr. Erwin Ong, for a discussion on potential collaboration opportunities involving graduate employability initiatives, international student recruitment, and university ranking enhancement strategies.
The discussion also highlighted DBS’s expertise in educational support services, professional development programmes, and microcredential training initiatives that may benefit UPSI students and staff. Both parties shared ideas and explored strategic collaborations to strengthen academic excellence, student development, and global visibility initiatives, aligned with current higher education trends and international benchmarking practices.

23 April 2026 – Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) had the honour of receiving a delegation from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC).
The visit was led by Professor Hu Jun, President of UESTC, accompanied by senior representatives of the university, including faculty members and officials from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange. The UPSI delegation was headed by Professor Dato’ Dr. Md Amin Md Taff, Vice-Chancellor of UPSI, together with members of the university’s management and academic staff.
The session commenced with welcoming remarks and introductions by UPSI, followed by an institutional presentation delivered by UESTC. Both parties then engaged in a productive discussion focusing on potential areas of collaboration, particularly in summer school programme, staff attachment, joint academic exchange, appointment of an Adjunct Professor from UESTC as well as the research cooperation.
A key highlight of the visit was the signing of a Letter of Intention (LoI) between UPSI and UESTC, symbolising a shared commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation. The session concluded with an exchange of mementos as a gesture of goodwill and partnership.
Overall, the visit marked a significant step towards fostering international collaboration and enhancing strategic partnerships between the two institutions.

29 March - 5 April 2026 - We are pleased to inform that The First International Student Forum TUIT 2026, involving 5 students from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), has been successfully conducted from 29 March to 5 April 2026 at Tashkent University of Information Technologies (TUIT), Uzbekistan. International, Mobility and Advanced Education Centre (IMAC) would like to congratulate all students who participated.
The programme brought together international students from various countries with the aim of enhancing intercultural understanding, strengthening academic collaboration, and providing exposure to global project-based learning.
Throughout the programme, participants were involved in various activities including project presentations, academic visits, cultural programmes, and sports activities. UPSI participants also achieved outstanding results by securing second and third place in the Hackathon “Design Thinking Startup”.
We once again express our appreciation to all participants for their commitment and contribution in representing UPSI.
