I am teaching Form 1 this year hence the same storyline resurfacing 😂 These kids were even singing "..dua tiga kucing berlari..🎶🎵🎼" to mimic the happiness the pupils in the first picture might have felt in the beginning of the journey. They had a feeling that I was writing about them 😅
However the happy song was instantly switched with a horror movie soundtrack towards the end of the story as suspense built in. But it didn't last long before they burst into histerical laughter as they learnt that the old lady managed to flee the scene in the end..and she forgot her walking stick and simply threw it onto the pupils on the ground😂.

Marking my third year of teaching SPM at SMADJIWA, we have finally achieved our ultimate goal of securing a 0.++ GPMP for English—a milestone reached for the first time since the school's inception. MasyaAllah, I am beyond grateful. To my colleagues and students: thank you. We truly gave this our blood, sweat, and tears.
Our school’s overall GPMP has reached 1.96! Congratulations, Nexus; you are truly the pride of SMADJIWA 😊
Mission accomplished✅️✅️✅️

These are my students,(this was yesterday actually) still unsure of how to plan a story - some stories were too long, too ambitious, had strange characters appearing out of nowhere, out of context, too simple or even too boring or cliche'. But it's a process. They need to make and see the mistakes to identify the kind of errors that they should not be doing next time.
That's why concluding your lesson thoughtfully is paramount since it will guide and lead the students to reflect about what they just went through, how do they improve and learn from there and what not to do next time.
I left them with the most powerful statement a teacher could offer to her students when it comes to narrative writing: it is always better to have a mediocre storyline rather than taking too long and losing all your time to write the most perfect piece of essay, we aren't writing a novel, it's SPM 😅.
What say you?

One of the ways to make students excel in story writing is going through the slow process of teaching them how to:
1.plan a story (with all the necessary content points)
2.expose them to narrative-based sentence pattern (my symbol-based technique). E.g: I saw, I heard, I decided to, I realised that...
3.practise these patterns in a paragraph form in groups (groupwork is a must for a start).
4.Check each others' storyline elaboration & grammar errors in groups.
5.write half of an essay on their own, for example: two paragraphs - groupwork, 4 paragraphs - individual work.
6. Write independently on their own, that is individually (probably at A- level)
7. Proceed to A+ level (where we focus on less common lexis, superb storyline and writing in style, gituh 😀)

Form 2 : Unit 9 - Take Care (Cyberbullying VS Physical Bullying)
I realised that the students are becoming more and more creative when it comes to presentation, in today's class, they even came up with a quiz towards the end of the lesson to test their friends' attentiveness.
Many have also gained more confidence when it comes to voicing out ideas and pointing out mistakes when they see one. They have certainly grown out of their coccoon! Kudos, kids. Alhamdulillah.

Alhamdulillah. I attended iELT Con 2025 as one of the grant receivers and DELTA rep a few days back and I would like to thank PELLTA and US embassy for the opportunity, I am beyond grateful and pleased. I met amazing and inspiring individuals here as well as old and new friends who share the same passion in learning. Being in such event really helps to refresh, rejuvenate and instill some new ideas for my teaching career.
Hope to come back as a presenter next time! See you soon!
